4 THURSDAY - APRIL 1974
94TH DAY - 271 DAYS TO COME

Rcd. an announcement of a BACKGAMMON tournament to be held in
Hawaii in July. Prince Djoli Kansil is one of the organizers. (Filed in
'74 misc.)

Rcd. a letter from Haar Hoolim. Mentions THE TOWER OF HANOI and
his CROSSOVER PUZZLE, CHINESE MATCHING CARDS, MONOPOLY, ACQUIRE.
THREE MUSKETEERS.
Rcd. a UPS package from Keith Tuggle at 3M with THORNS, SNARE,
NAVAL BATTLE, HEDRON, 3 DIMENSIONAL TIC TAC TOE, NAB,
PLASM, and HEX.

Call from Felicia. She rcd. a surprise letter from Western Publishing.
If it has not been placed elsewhere, they would like to reissue
FOCUS in a revised edition. I asked whether they would give
royalties on it and she said that they had told her, she
during Toy Fair, that they will give royalties.
She'll call Bob Johnson to see what the status of FOCUS is.

She rcd. a copy of TOP BANANA. The box is attractive but the
insides are rather cheesy. But it sells for only 69¢.

2nd call from Felicia. She called Bob Johnson and he said
that he positively won't release FOCUS. (that the contract runs
till January of '75). He thinks it is one of the best games he
has ever seen, and it will be one of their first games issued.
We should get an answer on SPECTRUM and a decision on what
will be done with HONORABLE RELATIONS very shortly.
Bob again said that he will be coming in in a couple of weeks
(but will try to give us two weeks notice). I said I am looking
forward to getting together with him and Felicia seemed to won-
der why it was necessary for me to see him. I said that I
wanted to show him THE BRAIN GAME, SHAPE & SHATTER, and
INTERSECTION - which I told her I just came up with.
Felicia has a contact with American Publishing - who did
SKI GAMMON among other things - which she is going to follow up.
3M came up and I asked if Alan Newman had rcd. his contracts
from AMAZING and TIC TAC OH NO. They are on the way, together
with the advance.
In connection with paper games she said that Harold Rappaport
said that YES & KNOW is doing very well (see '72).

Called Phil Orbanes again about the form letter from Bob Reiss.
He called me back and told me what to do.
He discussed his relationship with Jim Dunnigan and S.P.I., and
their split off from I-Q a few years back. A contract was sup-
posed to have been signed then, but someone found the unsigned
contracts in a dead file at S.P.I. and gave them to Phil. He is going
to see if his lawyer and get it settled.
A mention of I-Q stocks came up and I asked if I had in the
past actually rcd. the certificates. No. He will go over what
I earned in the way of stocks for '73 and then will send me
all the certificates.
