MARCH 1974 - TUESDAY 26
KUHIO DAY (HAWAII) - 85TH DAY - 280 DAYS TO COME

Call from Felicia. She finally heard from Harold Frankel. He
and Albert Stubbman fought like hell with Shelly Greenberg for
POP-SHAPE-AND SHATTER but Greenberg decided to revive some
old HI-Q material instead of tooling up for something new. Harold
told her that maybe in a few months Greenberg will change his mind
so Felicia told him to hold on to the model.
I said that I'd like to show it to someone else. She said that
she didn't want to show things and have them rejected. That
would ruin her reputation, and its her livlihood. I said "God
damn it, it's my livlihood too!" Then she changed and started
asking who we should show it to. I said definitely Bob Johnson
and she agreed. We discussed Aladdin and agreed that she'd see
him face to face and size him up before we show anything.
We can leave POP-SHAPE-AND SHATTER with Kohner since I have
the plastic set and I'll rewrite the rules as SHAPE AND SHATTER.
She said that Bob Johnson is unsure of himself with the
new V.P. he has to report to and the other new people. (Did she
have another talk with him?)
2nd call from Felicia. She called Harold Frankel to tell him that we
will show the game to others. He said just let him know when
we want the model and he'll send it right over. Felicia thought
that this might make him try even harder.

Call from Bob Champer. He has doctor appointment tomorrow and
we changed date for Thurs.

Call from Bob Abbott. He started by asking me what I made for my
POKE article in ESQUIRE. Then we discussed Barbara Heine
and her current project. She wants the new ELEUSIS from him but
he won't give it to her unless he gets paid. He is trying to
talk her into doing the original and thinks he will. He told
Wald about it and he went down to see her, and offered to
let her use DRAGON.
I told Bob about WIRETAP and mentioned that I intended to call
her about it. According to Wald she is on vacation this week.
Told Bob that I rcd. the AGOG contract from Nelson.
He rcd. a contract from Philmar (who do DIPLOMACY and a
rather crummy, Bob says, GO set) for his EPAMINONDAS. The
royalties start at 5% and raise to 10%. There is also a £75
yearly performance clause. Graeme Levin gets 50%.

Rcd. a catalog from "Lowry Enterprises." Nothing in it that
isn't in the one I rcd. on 8/17/73.

Rcd. THE GAMESLETTER - #70. Review of ALBION #47. He just rcd.
two games for review: CHACO and TRIPLANETARY - and wants
someone to review them. An article on GO by Ted Drange.
Review of THE APBA JOURNAL (VII:5).

N.Y. POST had a review of the book MATH, WRITING, AND GAMES IN THE
OPEN CLASSROOM
. (Put it with the book.)
