MARCH 1974 - WEDNESDAY 20
79TH DAY - 286 DAYS TO COME

Rcd. [received] a letter from Tony Mills saying that they have to send AGOG to press this month in order to be ready for X'Mas [Christmas]. They need the signed contract.
Rcd. [received] a letter from Kathy Brooks concerning BAZAAR, SLEUTH. Mentioned that they rcd. [received] FOREIGN INTRIGUE.
Rcd. [received] a letter from Roger Verhulst. The editor of the (N.Y.) NEWS is interested in an article on games that people play at tournament levels. Roger asked if I had any ideas other than MONOPOLY, SCRABBLE, BRIDGE, CHESS, and DIPLOMACY. He also would like to try and interest the editor in an article on me.
He sent me his 2/15/74 column covering ZODIAC STAR CHESS and CHESS DICE. He is no longer writing weekly columns for the CHICAGO TRIBUNE, altho he may occasionally do round-ups. He will also do occasional things for the GRAND RAPIDS PRESS. He enclosed a small (and incorrect) piece on MONOPOLY from that paper.
He may be in New York next month.
Rcd. [received] March PLAYTHINGS. Advertisement for BLOCK-OFF. "Trends 1974 - Adult & Board Games" mentions the following - as well as a number of standards-: INSIGHT, GROUP THERAPY, GOT A MINUTE, THE BLACK EXPERIENCE, CHALLEGNGE YAHTZEE, CROSS-UP, SUPER SOOTH, 1776 [A.H.] [Avalon Hill], FRACTION BROTHERS CIRCUS, SPACE HOP, CIRCULATION, SUPER SANDWICH, CONNECT FOUR, PRIZE PROPERTY, KING OIL, COLUMBO, THE INVENTORS, and PIT. Advertisement for Itemation's ENERGY CHESS GAME.

Rcd. [received] the 1099 form with a repro, from Hallmark. It was misaddressed to 1267 Arrow Ave., and it was mailed to me from there. The amount listed was $375.00 more than I had in my records, spent day looking thru 1973 diary to see if I could find something I missed. No. Called Leonard Willett and he suggested writing to Hallmark. If necessary I can get permission to delay filing.
Wrote to J.F. Empie whose name was on the 1099 form and enclosed the repro [reproduction] of the form. Sent essentially the same letter to Julie Clardy (see 2/5) and told each that I was writing to the other.
[actually these letters were written tomorrow and typed Friday.]

moving. (Very rough idea.)
Earl is anxious to have Claude contact Paul Sullivan (see 2/21). I said that if we do that Sullivan will have the upper hand with us.
Earl would like to show ASTRO TRACK to Felicia. I said that I'd like to play it at least once more before setting it up.
