MARCH 1974 - SATURDAY 16
75TH DAY - 290 DAYS TO COME
Rcd. [received] a get-well card from Claude.
Rcd. [received] a letter from William T. Silent who is under contract to
Stackpole Books to do a book on games available on the market. He
saw my column in S&T and got my address from Bob Gellman.
Call from Alan Newman - Felicia told him that I was sick.
He is still waiting for a contract from 3M for AMAZING and
TIC TAC OH NO. When he spoke to Keith Tuggle Keith told
him that they were offering a $500 advance and 3% royalties
or a flat fee. Alan asked what it was and Keith said $1000
and violently tried to talk him into it. Later Keith told Felicia
that Alan had accepted the $1000, which Alan never did.
HARDHAT bounced with Ed-U-Cards. Alan is now redoing it
something like HIGH RISE (see '73) with Kohner in mind -
using a construction toy Kohner makes to construct the buildings.
Al Stack of Skor-Mor is looking at NFL FRANCHISE OWNER.
Felicia told him that Stack will screw him.
I asked him about the copy of HIJACKED he promised to
give me. He'll bring it to Felicia next time he goes there.

Bob had a copy of THE NEW PRODUCT GAME by Continental Can Co. - White Cap Division. It was a single path race game with the spaces giving problems connected with developing a new product. The White Cap Division apparently has a service helping other companies with new product development.
To S.P.I. Picked up a letter addressed to me there
from W.H. Harless, Jr. He wanted info on CHE, SPACEVENTURE,
and !@#C&*!.
Took 3 copies of MOVES #13 (all that were in the pile).
Mentions of the following upcoming games: TANK,
ALPHA CENTAURI CAMPAIGN, OPERATION OLYMPIC, and FRIGATE.
Feature article on NATO.
Letters from readers discuss a suggested game MISSILE BOAT,
FOXBAT AND PHANTOM, THE AFRICAN CAMPAIGN (Jedco);
LEE MOVES NORTH; DESERT WAR; and WAR IN THE EAST.
Appraisal of the 1973 games - by John Young, James Dunnigan,
and Redmund Simonsen.
Took copies of the following games: MUSKET & PIKE; 1918; KOREA;
AUSTERLITZ; GRENADIER; FRANCO-PRUSSIAN WAR; KURSK; TURNING POINT.
Also took 62 of the loose dice.
Rcd. [received] 1099 form from Random House - 1973 AGOG earnings.
Rcd. [received] (by U.P.S.) the book 101 BASIC COMPUTER GAMES. They are all
played on a computer and the complete program is given plus a
sample run from each. Didn't go thru everything but did discover
a 2-hand game of LIFE that doesn't need the computer.
