11 MONDAY - MARCH 1974
70TH DAY - 295 DAYS TO COME
Downtown to ESQUIRE Magazine for date with Barbara Heine. Gave
her a quick rundown on the games and puzzles she had there.
Among others were TRIPPPLES, THE L GAME (see 1967), IMPASSE, TAU,
CLUSTER, 3M's GO, CAMBALUC CHINESE CHESS, the Springbok
puzzle-games, a number of imported wood Piet Hein items including
MORRA-BOARD and POLYTAIRE - in a hex pattern (see 1969). Also some
3M puzzles. I set up FITTING & PROPER with the pcs. and pegs on
transparent plastic - not on the purple board - and she said she
thought she could get the art editor to use it.
Barbara had both of the new TRIPPPLES sets. She ran off repros
of the instructions for the cheaper set for me and gave me the
set booklet from the deluxe set. She ra (Filed in box with the
game.) She also ran off the info on CAMBALUC CHINESE CHESS for
me. (Filed in '74 Misc. folder.)
She said she wants to do two pages on original games. Tim Holland
(I believe) gave her a method of playing BACKGAMMON without
dice. Someone else gave her a physical game. She may use Bob
Abbott's new ELEUSIS if he gets it into shape in time. She doesn't
want to use PATTERNS II PATTERNS II since it was already pub-
lished. I told her that I would get something to her. (Later
decided on WIRETAP - see '73.)
She asked to buy the copy of AGOG I brought with me. I said
that I would give it to her but she said that the magazine, not
she, would pay. Took $7.
Rcd. a letter from Keith Tuggle asking for another chance
to consider SKYSCRAPERS if it hasn't already been placed.
Barbara Heine had two copies of the game SYNTACTICS and gave
one to me.
