1 FRIDAY - MARCH 1974
60TH DAY - 305 DAYS TO COME

In bed thinking about a GAME idea I had quite a while ago. Players
have cubes as pcs. These are turned one face in the direction
of movement. My new idea - possible name ROLLOVER is a race
game around an impassable portion in the center portion of the
board. Each player has a set of cubes, each in a set being dif-
ferent. Some faces are marked as a "Stop." Other faces have
arrows which force a move in a set direction, or perhaps a choice
of two directions. (To be worked out.)

While answering Graeme Levin's letter on AGOG I discovered that
the release I had from Random House for "Foreign Rights" was only
signed by me. Called Fay Hertog. She'll send me a xerox of a
signed one. I asked her about not receiving a statement this
January for AGOG. She said that I owed well over $1000 due to
the computer's goof last year. Fabio Coen has been holding them
off in asking for it - if I come up with another book the advance
could be used against the debit. Asked her to have Fabio call me.
Call from Fabio. He thinks it would be better if I clear up the
debit, and he'll see that I get the release on AGOG. Told him
of my idea for a book with some six games, repeated as
in ALTAIR DESIGN, which become artistic as they are colored
in during play. He was definitely interested.
Wrote an answer to Graeme Levin mainly on AGOG. Also mentioned
CARTEL, REALM, and INFINITY; POUNCE, SPECTRA, 3 UP;
CONFRONTATION, THE HARE AND THE TORTOISE, ESCAPE FROM COLDITZ CASTLE
(Invicta and Parker); G&P.

Rcd. a card from Don Miller. Mentioned MOVES.
Rcd. NOST-ALGIA #166. Phil Cohen has more GO variants, including
CYLINDRICAL GO. Also an annotated GIVEAWAY CHESS game.
W.H. Rawlings gives rules for KNIGHT RELAY CHESS.

Met Claude on Chambers St. We chipped in $1. each to buy a children's
"learning computer," I'll hold it until one of us have an idea to use it.
Earl and Bob Abbott joined us for supper in a restaurant and then we
went to Earl's where Wald joined us.
Played ELEUSIS using Bob's new ideas. The "prophet" added some excitement,
but it made the mechanics rather clumsy.
Claude brought up the matter of Hasbro and his meeting with
Paul Sullivan. Wald and Earl were interested in pursuing it. Bob wasn't.
Claude showed the following three games which he showed to Howard Wexler
last night under the blanket title of "Coffee Break Games."
DEVIL the board is as shown. 14 chips and [drawing of board]
1 "devil" pc. are placed in the circles. The
devil is placed in different circles, starting
with 1, in succeeding games. 2 play and in
turn take 1, or more chips adjacent to each
other along a line. Object is to force op-
ponent to take the devil
