27 WEDNESDAY - FEBRUARY 1974
ASH WEDNESDAY - 58TH DAY - 307 DAYS TO COME

Called Aurora and spoke to Estelle Berger to ask her to send PURSUIT and SHIFTY CHECKERS here rather that to S.P.I. They are due to be shipped any day and it would hold things up a lot to change the address.
Wrote to Eric Naiburg asking him to call me about VECTOR and CARAPACE.
Copied the board for the game FAMILION.
Rcd. [received] letter from Alister Wm. MacIntyre. For their July '74 [1974] convention he is setting up a night of ACQUIRE, EXECUTIVE DECISION, A.H.'s [Avalon Hill] THE STOCK MARKET GAME, and others. They'll give each player a set amount of play money, which they can invest in different games with idea of having the most money by a certain time.

Called Bob Abbott. Earl Perel didn't call him so I gave him info on Friday. He has a new idea on ELEVSIS he wants to try out.
Told Bob that "Thomas Nelson and Sons" was supposed to be doing AGOG and that I expected a draft of the contract shortly. Bob said that he had been promised one for ABBOTT'S NEW CARD GAMES some time ago and he's still waiting.

Call from Claude. He saw SYNTACTICS on sale for $8.00 in Macy's in Queens. Told him not to buy. He saw the Springbok games discounted. Discussed Hasbro and Wexler in connection with the other fellows. I'll let him take the lead Friday on how much he wants to say.

card is dealt to each player. If anyone is dealt a "full tank he places it face up on the table and is not involved in any trading. The first player to the player dealer's left still active can either stay with his card or trade with the first active player to his left. This player must trade. He then can stand or force a trade to his left. And so on until last player can trade with deck. Then any player who wishes, starting with pone [player one?], can use a chip to buy a card from "Extra Gas Deck." Player with least gas loses a car. In case of tie both lose. After a player loses his third car he stays in the game until he loses once more. Last player in is the winner. (Three of us played and it was fun.)
RACK-A-TACK: (by Frank Thibault). 2 play. There is a [illegible strikeout] standing board with a 4x4 field, the spaces open from both sides. The pcs. [pieces] are two sided with the following combinations: Blue player = B-B, B*-B, B-W, B-W*, B-R*, R-R, R-W, W-W, B-R, B-R; Red player has the equivalent. Players in turn place a pc. in any position until 16 have been placed. (Frank thinks that the opponent should be told the mark on each pc. as it is placed, making it a question of memory. Jerry thinks it should be a surprise at the end and we played that way.) Scoring is as follows for combinations in any line of 4 on either side:
1 red (or blue) and 3 whites --- 1 point. 2 red (or blue) and 2 whites ---- 2 points.
3 red (or blue) and 1 white --- 3 points. 1 starred tile --- row scores double.
4 red (or blue) -----------------8 points.
