21 THURSDAY - FEBRUARY 1974
52NS DAY - 313 DAYS TO COME
In answer to my PLAYTHINGS card rcd. on answer from Elm Hill Games
about their game 22/22. Included a glossy.
Jerry D'Arcey here in morning. Made a number of calls, including
one to Parker. Randy Barton was supposed to call him back and did
after Jerry left. Told Randy that Jerry was on his way.
At International House of Pancakes took another copy of PASSPORT.
Claude called. He went to Hasbro and asked to look at DOUBLE DEALER,
saying he was the inventor. Paul Sullivan, the V.P. we spoke to in 1972,
spoke to him. The game they had there was only a prototype. They
may make changes in it, including the name. However, Sullivan is
interested in our working as a group again. He offers $5000 a game, but
not guarantee to take any. He is supposed to call in a week or two.
I didn't like the deal but Claude would like to "play games" with
Sullivan. He'd like to get Bob Abbott and Earl Perel in as well as Wald.
I said I didn't think that Bob can produce on spec. He said that
that would make the rest of us look better. He'll think about it some
more and contact the others after talking to me again.
I brought up the matter that Felicia might be dealing with Hasbro,
but he pointed out that she doesn't always look out for my interests.
Phil Orbanes called to say that he had a letter from Graeme Levin
addressed to me at "Gamut of Games." He'll mail it to me.

Before going to Felicia stopped at Kohner. Spoke to Harold Frankel
(with coffee and cake). He, with Albert (he says - not Arnold) Stubbman's
help with try to get POP-SHAPE-AND SHATTER accepted. He was
going to give me the other four back, but at the last minute de-
cided to try with TAKE-A-WORD too. I took OVER 'N OVER,
PAIR OFF and ECLIPSE and left them with Felicia.
After Felicia's returned to Toy Center. Visited the following:
- Schaper. Met Jim Rockwell again. He showed me AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLER.
It is a PARCHISI type game of landing four airplanes. The planes
are mounted on a stand with different levels, but in a quick look I
didn't see any use made of the feature. LETTER PILE has letters
printed on transparent plastic. Players are dealt 7 (I believe) letters.
Make up as long a word as possible and place it in a special
holder so that all of the letters are superimposed. There are rotated
around the table which each player getting a chance to solve each
opponents'. Score for getting some of the letters, and more for the word.
Jim will see that I get review copies when in production.
- Invicta. Don't have glossy of ESCAPE FROM COLDITZ CASTLE yet. I'll come later.
- Cadaco. Looked DOUBLETAKE. Don Monaham busy, but another fellow
filled out a sheet for a review copy for me.
- To rep advertised for "Great Games" (see 2/11). They said they haven't
