FEBRUARY 1974 - MONDAY 18
WASHINGTON'S BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION - 49TH DAY - 316 DAYS TO COME

Gave BB the new FOREIGN INTRIGUE rules to type. Also to retype POP-SHAPE-AND SHATTER, in case we get it back from from Kohner, to SHAPE AND SHATTER.

To Colosseum for "International Toy Fair."
- Intellect Games. Spoke to and got card from Malcolm Gluck. Looked at CABBIE, STOCKBROKER, FRENCH CHATTER, SPANISH CHATTER, and 2 new ones THE HARE AND THE TORTOISE and ELECTION. Actually got very little info on them, I believe the latter was just an empty box. Took glossies of CABBIE, STOCKBROKER, FRENCH CHATTER, and ELECTION. The games are being handled in the U.S. by {Chartwell American Corp.

and Malcolm will have them send me review copies, of all but ELECTION (I believe).
- Funtastick. Spoke to White and told him that I'd be speaking to the company which I sent the copy of THE DOT GAME and I'd let him know if they are interested. Several companies have contacted him but he didn't mention 3M among them. This year he has interchangeable cards which allow some ten games to be played. Most are standards, but the diagram shown is played by two.

[diagram drawing of 5x5 grid with "x"'s in each square]

Each in turn occupies a circle. Object is complete any straight line. (It would seem that the diagonals are the only possibilities.) He will send me a review copy when it is in production. Gave him a copy of my previous review. Took a descriptive sheet.
- Bayazid & Company (Lebanon). WORLD COMMODITY FUTURES TRADING and BARJEES which appeared to be PARCHISI on a fancy cloth board.
- Took a copy of BRITISH TOYS mag. (Dec. '73 [December 1973]). Ads for WHATCHAMACALLIT (doesn't look very interesting). Spear's has a REVERSI set.

To Statler-Hilton.
- 3M spoke to Keith Tuggle. He gave me a set for SNARE and one sheet each from from HEX, PLASM, 3 DIMENSIONAL TIC TAC TOE, NAVAL BATTLE, THORNS, NAB (from some legal reason they couldn't use NIM, altho Keith would have preferred to, and HEDRON. (Felicia was told that all were done "in-house.") He'll send me the set when they are in full production.
Told him that I was now free to submit paper games to them. He is interested in solitaires, including different mazes, because of demand from hospitals. He'd also like to see SUPERGHOSTS. But there is no hurry. He'll look at Stationary Show, when he'll come for an evening he said. The game in AGOG that he originally was interested in was LAST WORD. Told him it is available as well as any of the others.
Told him about my changes in FOREIGN INTRIGUE. He said that he definitely liked the theme but my previous setup was too cumbersome. Told him I'd have Felicia send it and he'll consider it for '75 [1975] Bookshelf.
