SIXTH SUNDAY AFTER EPIPHANY - 48TH DAY - 317 DAYS TO COME

Wrote rules for FOREIGN INTRIGUE and finished the new set of
Assignment Cards.

Call from Jerry D'Arcey. He'll be in town Tuesday late for Toy
Fair. Told him it would be pretty nearly over by then and
that he should try to make it Monday. Also told him that
he could spend a couple of nights here.

Call from Felicia. She went to the "International Toy Fair." She
said saw THE DOT GAME and was afraid it would conflict
with 3D BOXES because it claims to be 3 dimensional - even
tho it isn't.
Th only other exhibit of interest is Intellect Games.
At Statler-Hilton she saw Keith Tuggle and the 8 new paper games.
Keith told her that they are accepting Alan Newman's
AMAZING and TIC TAC OH NO for their line. They only want
to give 3% royalties, reducing to 2% after 5 years. She'll agree if
they include a performance clause.
I told her that I was now free to sell paper games to 3M. She
said to talk to Keith and to tell him that I wasn't thoroughly
satisfied with Hoi Polloi and that I'd discuss showing him things.
I brought up FOREIGN INTRIGUE and she said to talk to Keith
about it Monday, but to hold off on giving it to him until [illegible strikeout] we
show it to Schaper on Tuesday.
At S-H. She was impressed by Skor-Mor's exhibit, especially a series
of bookshelf puzzles that she said were better that the
Springbok line, the packaging that is. She knows Al Stack the
president from the days when he was a jobber and ordered BALI
from her.
He says that sales are going well. In fact YESTERYEAR, his own
invention, is sold out and he is trying to buy a copy for himself. Another
new game is PAYOLA, based on the record industry. (Phil Orbanes had
told me that Skor-Mor was in financial trouble and that Stack had to sign
a personal note to get money.)
Felicia also said that at 3M she didn't see SLEUTH on rack and for
me to check on it. Also she gave Keith a copy of LUXURY LINER
(which an airline pilot had printed and sold enough in airport gift shops
to break even) for consideration. Other companies are looking at it too.
She ran across Donald Benge who did CONQUEST. He is very agres-
sive and she thinks I should see him.

George and Dorothy Bredehorn here for supper. Gave him back
his model of CLUE-WORDS.
During the week he got together with Dick Harris of M.B. [Milton Bradley]
and showed him 15 items (at Dorothy's office). No success.
Geroge got the impression is that all they want is things
that go "bang."
Played RED LETTER. Changed 20 point letters to 25 and 25 to 40. Allowed
2 bonus chips for each "Red Letter" and 2 more for J, Q, X, or Z. The
latter seemed confusing and I think I'll give 2 bonus chips for each
(cont. on 2/16)
