45TH DAY - 319 DAYS TO COME

Call from Felicia. She went to Whitman. They finally put out [illegible strikeout] Natalie Donna's game, calling it TOP BANANA. It is only a $1 seller and not too great. They are going back into games in a big way, they told her, but very simple games. Gene Larsen is now in charge of games. Tom Mason is still there and sends his regard.
She showed them LIFE SAVER and they took it for consideration. Owens-Illinois will put her on a good sized retainer starting the beginning of next year (budget is made out for this year). She is going to Toledo next week as a consultant.
They accepted Denis Ladouceur's POP-CORN BINGO and gave a big advance.
She showed 3D BOXES to Bill Dohrmann and he said "Oh, Sid is getting into 3D things, but he wasn't interested in it.
He told her that they had held up on some adult items because of lack of materials, but now find that they can get the material. They'll probably be out at Stationary Show. Felicia showed him RIGHT ANGLES and he said that he like to consider items like that, but not now.
At M.B. [Milton Bradley] she was told that business was great.

To N.Y.G.A. meeting at Earl Perel's sublet apt. Earl showed his new version of ASTRO TRACK (not STAR TRACK). There is a continuous path (about 48 long) in the center and the 12 signs of the zodiac in a circle outside. Next to each zodiac sign is one of the four elements: water, fire, earth, air. There are five "Poker Dice" and 1 die with 6 planetary symbols. Players in turn throw the dice. Depending on their POKER hand they can move their token along the tab path (see table, which is probably not quite correct).

[game table. Columns: hand. numbers.]
Pair-- 3-1
2 pair-- 6-4
3 of kind- 9-7
Full House- 12-10
Straight- 15-13
4 of kind- 18-16

The player whose planetary sign shows also moves the same amount. The player may choose to rethrow up to 3 of the poker dice and also the planetary die must be rethrown if he does. The movement for a second throw is second in the table. A player who uses a throw with his own planetary sign up moves double. 5 of a kind give the thrower a choice of elements. On first throw the planetary player must take the same. On 2nd throw the planetary player has his choice. A sun pc. [piece] moves around the zodiac, the amount of each throw. When a player completes a path circuit with his marker he takes the element on which the sun rests. When a player gets 3 of an element he can trade in two of them for an element he needs. First to get one of each element wins.
Wald had a NIM variation. 28 chips are set up in a triangle as shown. [drawing of triangle with a black dot in the middle] 2 play and each in turn takes on chip or two or more in a contiguous row. The black chip can only be taken if it is the only GAME // chip left or if a row containing it is the only [illegible strikeout row left. Taking black chip wins. Wald had to leave after showing this and a couple of games were played.
I told Wald that BALANCE OF POWER wasn't in the Hasbro catalog
