FEBRUARY 1974 - SUNDAY 10
FIFTH SUNDAY AFTER EPIPHANY - 41ST DAY - 324 DAYS TO COME
Getting the boards for MACARTHUR into shape.
TIMES had mail order ad for 5*5.
Played THE BRAIN GAME with the Horn's, including Susan. Used
"pick and choose" with both 5 and 6 on red die. With a "1" on
red die there is "free trading" and the player throws again. Allowed
player on each turn to suggest a specific trade to an opponent.
Later broadened to allow negotiation with one player for a trade
of one card each, with the possibility of money added, or sale
of one card. Player in his can turn can also instead try "en-
ticement." Throw two dice and pay $1000 times number. Must
get 7 or more to take card.
(cont. from 2/11) [2/11]
to start an ad campaign. Any of my things they take will
be included.
They now give a forever guarantee against breakage.
To Bob Gellman, late for our appointment. Rick had left and would
be back in about a half hour. On 9th floor saw a showroom
for "Invicta Plastics Ltd." Went in and got a copy of
ESCAPE FROM COLDITZ CASTLE and FUN SQUARES. Also got an
1973 catalog. Among other things, SCRAMBLE; Players
SCRAMBLE, players put plastic ships in a 10 by 10 pegboard.
Each has a peg which is moved by throw of one die. When peg
ends on a ship it is destroyed. (See catalog.)
OX BLOCKS and SPACE LINES - see 8/14/72.
SPY TRAP. Each player has 7 "spys" and 1 "master spy." Move by
throw of 1 die - spies orthogonally, spy masterspies orthogonally
or diagonally. Pcs. rebound on edge. Spies once entered onto field
can't return. Masterspies, whose base is on field, are safe in
their own colored base. Replacement capture. (see catalog.)
MOONSHOT, Spaces numbered from 2 to 12. Players throw
2 dice and occupy the space thrown if empty. 7, the moon, is
taken even if already occupied. The player occupying the moon
can take an occupied space away from the other player.
MASTERPIECE and a number of S&R games.
I'll go back next week to get glossies and list prices.
Back to R.G.I. Rick di there and we went over the boards to-
gether and he didn't see any problem (- with MACARTHUR). Bob
sent the secretary to the repros of the board.
Ron Sokolec of Franklin Merchandising was there. (They do
printing for R.G.I. - such as the HOLIDAY cards.) He told me that they
have made an arrangement with "House of Games" to share publi-
cation of games. They are handling GAME OF NATIONS (the new
version, which he says is great), RATRACE, ULCERS, KGB (both
versions). He will send me copies of each (altho I said I had
some already). Also he'll send glossies and list prices - approximate
since the Canadian price is higher than the U.S. (Ron remembered
