JANUARY 1974 - WEDNESDAY 23
23RD DAY - 342 DAYS TO COME
Finished the outline of the MACARTHUR map and put
in a few of the roads.
Called Carter Hall and made a date to pick up a copy of
THREE PLAYER CHESS tomorrow. He'll aslo show me the proto-
type of CASINO CHESS.
Called Itemation to ask for a copy of ENERGY CRISIS GAME. Secretary
said I should talk to Douglas Bolumbaum. Then told me that he
was just going out of town. He'll call me next week.
Call from [bracket drawn] Clyde Peters
[bracket drawn] Stackpole Books (717)-234-5091
[bracket drawn] P.O. Box 1831
[bracket drawn] Harrisburg, Pa. 17105
He got my number from Jim Dunnigan. Stackpole has taken over
distribution of John Scarne's games. Peters is interested
in getting some marketing information. He offered me a
consultant fee but I told him that I really wasn't the one
to give him the info. Said that I'd check to see if I can
find someone (Phil Orbanes). I'll call him - collect - next mon-
day.
I mentioned OUTDOOR SURVIVAL. They sell it thru book stores and
sell at least as many as A.H. [Avalon Hill]. However with the Scarne games
they want to handle both directions themselves.
I told Peters about my contact with Scarne and that he never
sent me review copies. Peters said he'll send me copies-
by UPS - of SKARNEY (the card game), SCARNEY (board game),
FOLLOW THE ARROW, TEEKO, SCRANEY DICE, SCARNEY 3000. I
mentioned that the last one was in SCARNEY DICE. He said it prob-
ably was but that it is put out as an individual game.
I mentioned that I am looking forward to submitting new games to him
sometime in the future. He said he is looking forward to seeing them.

Gave Phil a copy of MOVES #11, S&T #41, and AMERICAN REVOLUTION.
Looked at a copy of SIMULATION/GAMING/NEWS (Nov. '73) and
made copies of the two pages by Gini Scott. (Incidentally, the
copy was sent to Phil by Gini.) She mentions that Skor-Mor
and Mag-Nif have merged (Phil said it fell thru) and that Dynamic
Design is being taken over. She discusses the INTERNATIONAL GAME SHOW
and gives me credit for the info. She mentions COMPUT-A-TUTOR,
DR. NIM, THINK-A-DOT, and gives an extensive review of
ODYSSEY, In another section she reviews WHODUNIT (mention-
ing SLEUTH), CARTEL (mentioning ACQUIRE), BILLIONAIRE
(mentioning MASTERPIECE, LANDSLIDE, and DEALER'S CHOICE),
TAU, CLUSTER, IMPASSE, MONTAGE, POUNCE, MR. WHO, and
MATOCA. On the same page is an announcement for a contest
on improving MONOPOLY, and also an ad for a game called
