Rcd. a copy of EL CONQUISTADOR. In the mag. is an editorial
stating that it has taken over for the defunct
INTERNATIONAL WARGAMER.
It is primarily a DIPLOMACY magazine, but there is an
article on a 1914 modification and some general articles.
Rcd. a letter from an AGOG reader who had a p&p game
called TRAIL-WORD.

Drew up an outline map of Luzon for MACARTHUR.

Call from [bracket drawn]Mr. H. Cirker. Dover Publications. (212) 255-3755. His ass't. learned from
Castle that they have a few
copies of AGOG left but have
no intention of reprinting it.
He suggested that I write to Random House requesting
return of my rights "unless you have plans for reprinting."
I told him that I'd call and let him know the results.
He said that he heard from Martin Gardner that I made a
living from games and we discussed the difficulties of
making a hobby a way of earning money. I also said that
I might be going back to engineering.

and gave me a check.

Told Phil about my call from
Clyde Peters of Stackpole Books. Phil
is interested in acting as a con-
sultant for the Scarne games (SKARNEY, etc.) the fees going
to "Gamut." He is willing to go to Harrisburg but thinks it
would be better if Peters came to his office. Phil thinks that
I should get some kind of "finders fee."
Spoke about the disappointing performance of the p&p games
and that they second batch is uncertain. Actually Phil
doesn't see ant prospects for my preparing games for "Gamut"
in the forseeable future.
Phil had lunch sent up for the two of us.
Took one more expanding file and 4 of the small cardboard
boxes from BRIDGETTE, There are others that I will pick up next
time I am there.
To Carter Hall and spoke to Dick Landman. He gave me a copy
of THREE PLAYER CHESS, also a glossy and an article from
TIMES on Robert Zubrin.
The prototype of CASINO CHESS wasn't there, but he'll send me
a copy when it is published.
Gave him a copy of S&T #41 as a sample of my column.
