Called Martin Gardner. Mr Cirker, who is the head of Dover Publications, called Martin and asked for my address. He has heard that AGOG in now out of print and is interested in doing it in paperback. They only pay a flat fee - and Martin thinks I should try for $2000 and not accept less than $1000. He says it will probably be in print for the next 20 years and will be good for my image.
I told him that I haven't heard back from Pierre Berloquin yet
again. He hasn't either, but he has rcd. two sets of the books:
100 JEUX ALPHABETIQUES, etc.

Rcd. [received] new pad of RACECOURSE, with thank you letter from Stan Silverman. They have rcd. [received] some orders from my review.
Rcd. [received] letter #3 from Alister William Macintyre. Mentions STAR TREK, WORLD CITIZEN GAME, KEG, TAG, CHIRP, GAMBIT, [illegible strikeout] CAVE, MAZE II. Mentions that I might be interested in some of the games mentioned on last page of Hobby Show Brochure. Looked and saw a mention of TRI-PLANETARY and an article on "Science Fiction Games."

Rcd. [received] letter from Phil Cohen. Mentions ACQUIRE, AGOG, NOST, SEMI-CIRCLE CHESS. Sent me short rules of following CHESS variations:- TWO-BOARD SCRAMBLED CHESS, KNIGHTMATE, NEMESIS CHESS, INSIDE-OUT CHESS, unnamed ANAGRAMS GAME, CROSSING CHESS, SURGE CHESS, BIJECTION CHESS.
Will send me PARTON CHESS if he didn't already. Couldn't find it.

In my talk with Martin he mentioned a book he was sent MATH, WRITING, AND GAMES IN THE OPEN CLASSROOM by Herbert R. Kohl (N.Y. Review - Vintage). In a list of books he gives AGOG and says something about Sid Sackson being the country's outstanding game freak and one of the most innovative inventors (Frank Thibault told me about another book by the same writer - see 12/27/73)

POST had an article on old-time children's games and two books about them: WHAT DID YOU DO WHEN YOU WERE A KID? and THE GREAT AMERICAN MARBLE BOOK. (Filed in '74 Misc. [1974 miscellaneous])
