JANUARY 1974 - SATURDAY 5
5TH DAY - 360 DAYS TO COME
Mary Curtis (see 1/2) visited me in morning and asked a
lot of questions - mainly about the type of games published
in the U.S. Read her some of the notes I took at the Parker
archives. Asked for a copy of her paper when she completed it.
She was bothered about the cost of the repros and I suggested
that when she sends a copy to Mickey Mackay she ask her to make
a repro for me.
Working on new "Spy Identity" cards for FOREIGN INTRIGUE and
completed a set of the 30 new in the new set-up. Made four
new "Spy Lists" on cardboard. Used the old 60 card "Assign-
ment Deck" but changed it to 6 of each city and 12 "No
Assignment" cards. Put contact on the "name" cards.
Played with the Laurence's. My "name" cards were at the bottom
and I thought I had an advantage but I got nailed by
Annette - after I discovered BB. Then Phil won by getting
Annette. They liked the game.
There didn't seem to be any real advantage in the cards.
My "Identity" was one that I thought would be harder to get, but it wasn't.
Phil and Annette seemed to have trouble differentiating be-
tween a "No Assignment" card and accepting an assignment in
a prohibited city. Later decided to use an "x" in the corners
and a blank center instead of "No Assignment." And when a
player accepts an assignment in a prohibited city he has to
"Report to Headquarters."
Also later though of calling the "name" cards "Available
Agents."
When we played I had the ann challenger announce the
number out loud. If he if is wrong, however, he gives
away too much info on the challenged player.
(cont, from 1/27) [2/13]
was thinking of an oil game until he saw KING OIL.
Elias of Lakeside told her that SPACE was a good game
but "didn't fit into their marketing plans." Felicia will
pick it up and show it to Bill Dohrmann tomorrow.
She saw Dick Harris of M.B. today and he is interested
in one or two things. He said that they develop card games
"in house" and won't pay royalties on them. (This may have been said before.)
Took some description of games from Felicia to read and re-
turn - from possible new clients.
Looked at a puzzle by Denis Ladouceur, called LIFE SAVER.
It was a dissected "Life Saver" which was much too easy.
Before going to Felicia dropped off the following catalogs with
Phil Orbanes: Selchow & Righter, Parker, Cootie Co. (Schaper),
Wit 'N Proof, Westland Physics, Loew, Synestructics, Skor-Mor,
Uncommon Games, M.B., International games, Lakeside, Aurora.
