At Stationary Show they will introduce 2 new "Bookshelf" :- Frank Thibault's CONTIGO and one called EVENTS.
SLEUTH and EXECUTIVE DECISION weren't on display and I asked Dick Littlefield (or maybe Cunningham). They are out of these two and have to get additional supplies.
Keith believes that the foreign sales will keep up. Some games have shown an unexpected jump in 1st quarter domestic sales.
- American Greetings. No new games but salesman said some will be at Stationery Show.
- Eltron. Gave Mr. Glaeser my QUADTRIPLE review and he showed me BLOCK-OFF (took sheet). On an 8x8 quadrille players take turns placing a triangle of their color covering half the square. Score for various configurations of full squares of your color. He'll send me a copy when he is in production. Gave S&T.
- Hoyle - Stancraft. Mary Hilt was at the Variety Show. Spoke to someone else and he said the series of games with TRANSFORMATION, ODD or EVEN, TEMPO, and INTERPLAY are being closed out. Tried to get a copy of SUPER CRIBBAGE but I'll have to write to Mary. Took a catalog (and one for Gini Scott).
- International Games. Took a copy of UNO a card game that lists for $4.00. E.J. Akeman (see business card) will send glossy.
- Middle Earth. New game is CASABLANCA. Took sheet and they will send a review copy, glossy, and list price. (Didn't get name of one I was talking to.
Eric Naiburg, inventor of VECTOR and CARAPACE asked to talk to me. He is interested in selling the two games and asked if I had any suggestions. Told him about Felicia and he asked me to check with her. (Took his card.)
Donald Benge showed me his game CONQUEST and gave me a copy. I think I asked for a glossy. The price is still only $4.95.
- Skor-Mor. Spoke to Al Stack. Noticed that he has ARCHIEBALL on display altho it's not in the catalog. Told him about my problem with the stymie. He didn't seem very interested, or in the fact that I didn't review it. He said to come on Weds. and he'd give me copies of THE PETER PRINCIPLE GAME, PRIME TIME, and FIVE STRAIGHT.
- Westland Physics. Took sheet and glossy of GOLD RUSH, but he didn't give review copies. Gold nuggets are placed on board (probably they have point values). Cards are dealt out and then players pass cards to the left until someone gets 5 of a kind, out of 7 I believe. He grabs a nugget and then the others do. A player with 5 "Fools Gold" cards can pretend to grab a nugget and the others, if they are fooled, score minus. (Rough idea.)
- EXPLORATIONS. Their game is BIGWIG. Robert St. Cyr (see business card) asked how much it would cost to be in S&T - after I showed him a copy. Told him only a review copy. He'll send, or if I stop on Weds. he'll probably have one for me then. Told them about Roger Verhulst.
Met Tom Atwater and we went up to his room. He said that he had shown HIT THE JACKPOT to Ravensburger last year in New York and they seemed to like it a lot. He sent it to them recently by boat and they promise and answer by the end of May. It is planned
