12 WEDNESDAY - DECEMBER 1973
346TH DAY - 19 DAYS TO COME

Rcd. the book GAMES WITH PENCIL AND PAPER from Graeme Levin (can't
be sure but I think the postmark is 3 X1 73.) The book contains:
SPROUTS, THREE-DIMENSIONAL, [strikeout] NOUGHTS AND CROSSES, ELEUSIS,
THINK OF A LETTER, CRYSTALS, HEX, MIDDLEMAN, BOXES, COINCIDENCES,
AGGRESSION, BATTLESHIPS, HANGMAN, GO MOKU, SUBTERFUGE,
LETTER-STRINGS, BURIED TREASURE
.
Rcd. a card from Allan Calhamer. He is checking that I still live here.
He'd like to send me a copy of THE NAVAL GAME.
Rcd. a letter from Carol Peterson. She enclosed a letter from an economics
teacher (professor?) who uses EXECUTIVE DECISION in his class and
likes it. She also enclosed another 1973 catalog.
With BB To "Gamut of Games." Gave Phil the rules for END OF THE LINE
and SUPERGHOSTS. Told him my idea for COLLECT (Coney Island). He
thought it might be the same vein as his LAND BARON, but in
case Manny doesn't care for that he might like mine. So far he
hasn't had any feedback from Manny on the ones he already has.
Phil saw their books and by the beginning of November they had
sold about 50,000 of each title. Carltold Phil that he thought
they would sell out the 75,000 of each title (some time ago - he did)
that were printed. Phil has doubts about their selling 25,000 in two
month.
Made a repo of the END OF THE LINE and SUPERGHOSTS rules. Also
made repros of the second sides of SPECTRUM and TOPOLOGIK
rules.
Up to S.P.I. alone. Gave Redmond my column and had him read over
my review of SCARNE'S ENCYCLOPEDIA OF GAMES. It's o.k. with me him.
Took copies of STRATEGY, WORD WAR II, THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION,
FOXBAT & PHANTOM
.
Took a "simultaneous movement pad" [strikeout] to replace the missing one
in DESERT WAR. (Later discovered that I was also missing a
"Scenario & Table Sheet.")
Johny Carson had a long segment on strange "new" products. In-
cluded FIG LEAF.
When at "Gamut" asked Phil what the prospects were for their doing
COLLECTOR'S CHOICE (WHAT'S IT WORTH TO YOU?). Not for at least a
year. Took it with me to possibly show to Bob Johnson.
At S.P.I. spoke to Jim D. about the copying machine. It's o.k.
for me to use it, once they get the paper.

but seem to have gone under.
He will contact me about getting together in about a month.
