Also saw a letter from <u>Graeme</u> saying that Spears didn't want
to publish <u>CARTEL</u>, <u>REALM</u>, <u>INFINITY</u>, and <u>MONTAGE</u>. He will try a
smaller company - the one who put out <u>THE SIGMA FILE</u>.<br>
Phil said that 75,000 each of original 5 p & p games were run off, and all will be sold.

At one of those X'Mas [Christmas] stores on 23rd St. bought <u>POKA-TILE</u> (an
1961 Ideal game which I had seen but not bought). Among
other very old items they had Parker's <u>FLAG GAME</u>.
To S.P.I. spoke to <u>Jim Dunnigan</u> and told him about Felicia's suggestion
that <u>Dorothy Shapiro</u> get a subscription to ''<u>S & T</u>''. He'll
send her one. Took copies of ''<u>S & T</u>'' #37, 38, 39, and 40.<br>
Checked with Redmund and two weeks from now is O.K. for my
next column.<br>
Ran off copies of three Dutch game rules to give my father
some work: - <u>SIROCCO</u>, <u>ZIG-ZAG</u>, and <u>WIEKSLAG</u> (later discovered
that there were French rules for this one - but I'll give it to
dad anyway so that he can check his translation).
To Random House. <u>Fabio</u> gave me two copies of a book -
''<u>ALTAIR DESIGN</u>''. This has sold over 100,000 at $1.95. If I can
come up with something entirely different that has the
same type of appeal they'd be very interested in it. He also
mentioned the possibility of their doing a paper back of
''<u>AGOG</u>'' - but very vaguely. I mentioned that I have <s>getting</s> been getting
requests for a sequel to ''<u>AGOG</u>''. He said to prepare a listing of
what I would want to include and maybe it can be published
simultaneously in hard and soft cover. Another possibility he
threw out was a book including game connected with U.S.
history, in connection with the bicentennial - for children.
He also thought that the sequel to ''<u>AGOG</u>'' should be aimed
more towards children. (A lot of this conversation at the
Cornell Club where he took me for an expensive lunch.)<br>
Gave <u>Fay Hartog</u> the copies I made of the <s>two</s> last two royalty
reports and she got repros and returned them to me. She'll try
to get me an answer within a week.<br>
Fabio thought that over $2,000 was a lot to get from the
reprint edition, especially since Random House was getting half.<br>
