25 SUNDAY * NOVEMBER 1973
CHRIST THE KING * 329TH DAY * 36 DAYS TO COME

To 3 bazaars. Bought some erasors [erasers]. 3 had stacking plastic pcs. [pieces] which could be used for game equipment. Bought a hanging light fixture for upstairs game room.

Call from Claude. He heard from Earl but Earl wasn't much interested in joining us for an off-broadway play. He'd rather get together to play games.

He thought that I might be hit with having to return some money, but he said to remember that it was Random House's mistake.

To Brentano's and to Dorothy Shapiro's office. Gave her the 4 S & Ts and told her that Jim Dunnigan was entering her for a subscription. She appreciated it.
I mentioned that I hated to disturb her in her busy season and she said that business is very slow. THE RIGHT CONNECTIONS and FITTING AND PROPER are doing O.K. but other things are not moving and she doesn't know if she'll be able to do any reordering. She also said that PATTON is doing pretty well. The S.P.I. games are doing quite well. (Jim D. had told me that he got a big reorder.)
She said that BALI was doing well there, but the S & R is dropping it. (I never heard anything about that from Felicia!!)
After some hints from Dorothy I arranged to go there on 12/10, 12/11, and 12/12 - from 12 to 3 - to demonstrate all of my games. she said that She'd have a good supply of my games. Later I looked upstairs and saw that there were no SLEUTHs, only 1 VENTURE (I think), and only a few THE RIGHT CONNECTIONS and FITTING & PROPER.
She had a copy of SCRIMMAGE which she had considered handling in 1970, but decided against. She gave it to me for my collection.
Upstairs looked at the games. Saw a series of games by "Teaching Concepts" (no address given). They are FRACTION BROS. CIRCUS, CIRCULATION, SUPER SANDWICH, READ AROUND, and SPACE HOP. (At home NEW YORK Magazine had a piece on them - Filed in '73 Misc. [1973 miscellaneous]). They had Skor-Mor's PRIME TIME and one I haven't seen, 5IVE STRAIGHT which looked like a variation of GO MOKU with cards to 99 that correspond to spaces on the board. (Actually did on 5/21.)

Call from Felicia while I was downtown. BB told him her that I was visiting my editor. Dick Harris will be in on 12/3 to see 3D BOXES - 10:30 AM.

Sent a check to Bea Ecks' charity (see 11/16) for $7.50.

At Brentano's took an 1973-1974 catalog. Among other things listed:
FRUSTABLES, CORNERED-BUT-UNDAUNTED, EMOTE, CHINESE CHESS (Game-ophiles), SYNTACTICS, 16 of the S.P.I. games (Jim D. told me, after I asked, that when he said they didn't have the money Brentano's
