303RD DAY * 62 DAYS TO COME

Phil Orbanes answered my call. Told him that an old agent of mine might have a chance to place CARTEL in the Common Market. Gamut has an arrangement with Graeme Levin and he'll have to have his percentage - but that's O.K. Also it might expire at the end of the year.
Phil said a lot of things were up in the air - in a good sense. Gamut is making so many contacts to provide games - other than Hoi Polloi - that I-Q may be revived as an entity to handle that part of the business. He said that he'd keep me completely busy turning out games. One possibility is a series of $1.49 GAMEs, not p & p, to be sold in supermarkets. I'll drop in tomorrow and he'll fill me in more.
There is a flood of orders for all the "Hoi Polloi" and "Gamut of Games" games and Carl Eisenberg is going crazy trying to keep up with them. It seems that stores were waiting to the last minute to order.
Phil checked with the secretary at Hoi Polloi and we'll each be getting something over $500 for this third. The next third will be much much better
Phil has the repros [reproductions] of THE CAPITALIST REPORTER article I requested. He also has a nice article on CARTEL from Roger Verhulst - thanks to my suggestion to send him the "Gamut" games. He'll give me a copy of it.

Call from Felicia. Bob Johnson asked her to try to get sales figures on all game companies. She asked me if I knew the sales of CHINESECHEK, WORDPLAY, etc. Don't have them yet. Bob expects that she can just call up S. & R. [Selchow & Righter], since she has BALI with them, and get the figures. I said "would Bob give his figures to someone who called him up and asked for them?" She thought that was a great point, and she'll use it with Bob.
2nd call. Another big shot from Owens-Illinois will be there tomorrow morning and, altho Jack Barry said he'd like to see me again, they'd prefer to talk to Felicia alone - except for the inventor of the electrical GAME, who has to explain it. I said I don't mind not coming. She said she minds because she feels more confident when I'm there, but she has to do as they say. Arranged to go there about 1:00 and I'll bring up sandwiches and coffee. She'll mention 4 colors in 3D BOXES.
3rd call. She asked if I had heard from McGraw-Hill. After she left the office yesterday she got a call from someone who who was interested in a story on games. He wouldn't give his name but said he'd call today.

Sent the PLAYTHINGS card for UNGAME and WORDMATE.

Put 4 of the boxes I bought yesterday in Dale's room.

Got a call from Stan Chess. Dorothy Bredehorn's father died so it will be a little more time before Stan can set up a date.
