Jerry D'Arcey called. He
Jerry D'Arcey called. He is in town. I invited him for supper
tomorrow night and to sleep over.
Downtown. In Hallmark Gallery saw a good window display
of FITTING & PROPER, THE RIGHT CONNECTIONS, etc. Also a
counter display right at the cash register.
Spoke to Nancy Allen (see 10/5) about a MISS UNIVERSE GAME.
Got a pretty good idea of how the contest worked and saw
a promotional film. When she licenses the game to a company -
and she has gotten a lot of interest - she will insist on an
advance royalty of $10,000 to $15,000, which will mean
$1000 to $1500 for me. Didn't say I would definitely
do it; but if I decide not to do it I'll let her know at once.
Took some folders with promotional material. (Later discarded.)
To Brentanos. Saw PATTON but couldn't find HOLIDAY.
Saw BUSINESS STRATEGY ($10) which is an improvement of
MANAGEMENT by A.H.
Also saw SURVEILLANCE. The board is as shown.
[Diagram of a square board with 3 concentric square circuits. Each circuit contains 8 squares - one at each corner and one on each side in the center. There is also a square at the very center of the board which, unlike all the others, is made with dotted lines. Every square is connected to its neighboring squares with a line orthogonally, but not diagonally.]

The spaces, except for the center one, are called
"spy bases". Play is the same as NINE MAN MORRIS, including
the provision that when a player has
only three pieces left he can "jump"
a piece to any space. The center
(dotted)space cannot be occupied when
placing the pieces. In moving, it can be visited, but does
not count in a line-of-three. (A German import.)
