6 Thursday - September 1973
249th day - 116 days to come
Called Bob Gellman. Told him that I got two copies of
MOVIE MOGULS and not PATTON. He said it was an accident, keep
the MOVIE MOGULS for presents, and he'll send me the PATTONs.
Told him that my and Ruth's names were not on the HOLIDAY rules.
He said he'd put them on the next run.
He discussed putting PATTON into a "Bookshelf" package - he'll call it
"Library Games." He'd like to measure a "Bookshelf" package - I'll do
it for him. In discussing how to handle the folding of the
board I mentioned the jigsaw approach of "Gamut of Games" and
promised to bring him a sample.
Bob told me that he heard the Reiss is taking over D.D.I. Also that
Reiss and Mag-Niff were parting company. I didn't let on that I knew anything
about it.
Called Baywood Publishing Co. about back numbers and a subscription to the JOURNAL OF RECREATIONAL MATHEMATICS for Pierre. Spoke to Jerry Kass and he'd said he'd write to Pierre at once.
Ad from Publishers Central Bureau listed the following:
THE FOLKWAYS OMNIBUS OF CHILDREN'S GAMES by I. Vinton. "One-thousand-
and-one games and their lore, from every civilization - ancient Romans
and Australian Aboriginals to today - incl. [including] games using hands, the solar
system, kites, balls, beans, street games, more. Pub. [published] at $8.95. Only $1.98".
Decided not to get it.
Wrote to Earl Doherty. Mentioned TAKE-A-WORD, HOLEY TERROR,
KGB, ALGONQUIN VOYAGEURS, THE GREAT GAME OF BRITAIN, MULTIOPSONY,
RAT RACE.
Wrote to Graeme Levin on EXECUTIVE DECISION, PLOY, SLEUTH, VENTURE,
KGB, FACTS IN FICE, MONTAGE, INFINITY, TRAP, BILLIONAIRE, GRAPPLE,
FLUSTER, and BOGGLE. Also AGOG SIGMA THE SIGMA FILE,
ESCAPE FROM COLDITZ, and GAMES WITH PENCIL AND PAPER.
Wrote to Pierre. Mentioned JOURNAL OF RECREATIONAL MATHEMATICS,
SIDOMINOS, NINE OF SWORDS.
Finished putting together the shelves I picked up yesterday.
(cont. from 9/7) [9/24]
At Felicia's Alan Newman asked me if I had THE SIGMA FILE - he was considering ordering it. I told him that Graeme Levin was supposed to be sending me one. Felicia said that Henryk Szwarce writes to her that Graeme Keeps losing pictures of IMAGE that he is supposed to using as a cover for G&P.

At S.P.I. checked on Pierre's S&T subscription. It expired with #35 and they didn't receive any further money.
