16 Thursday - August 1973
Bennington Battle Day (VT.) - 228th day - 137 days to come
Call from Felicia. The games came back from Hallmark, except
for my TOTALLY-- and IMPULSE and Steve Barkoczy's PENTHOUSE
There was some question about the final whereabouts of
PENTHOUSE. In 1970 diary found an entry that she had
resubmitted it to x. Barkoczy, incidentally, very meekly agreed
to let Hallmark keep TRIAGO longer without further
holding money.
A game inventor that Bob Gellman sent to Felicia told her
that Bob doesn't even send him statement for a game
(which?) of his that was published.
Felicia went thru the "Gift Show."
She is pretty sure that "Cadeau" has folded. No sign of
it at the show.
Urban Systems is in trouble. (Where does this come from?)
They came out earlier in the year with a HOW TO COMMIT A CRIME
game, but were legally forced to withdraw it.
She spoke to the husband and wife team called "Lawson & Lawson"
(see 5/21). The woman talked to Felicia about working on TV
games and Felicia was thinking of her and working on them,
if she ever hears more about them. Felicia saw
COMPETATIVE JIGSAW, CROSSWORD TIC-TAC-TOE, and WORD POKER/CASINO/RUMMY
there and thought they were commercial.
Felicia hasn't heard from Stan Harfenist, altho he promised an
answer on 3D BOXES. She won't call him until Monday.
Played INVESTIGATION with Susan Horn, and then
SUPERGHOSTS with her and BB.
Susan remarked that I have given them a copy of
CROSSWORD LEXICON. (Couldn't find a record of it but vaguely
recollect that I had an extra that I gave them.) Started
thinking about the English version - LEXICON and looked for
it, and then WHITE KNIGHTS which I bought on the same
trip. Finally found former on shelf 23 and latter on 12.
Cleared the games MALBA, etc. out of the large drawer in the wooden cabinet. Wil use it for full sheets of cardboard and other large items.
Call from Earl. He asked and I told him that I had repros [reproductions] of CHINESE CHESS, A MANUAL OF and INTRODUCTION TO CHINESE CHESS for him. He is not in a hurry. Also at his request told him I'd check with Al Richter on the status of DON'T BLOW A FUSE. I'll call him next week.
Rcd. [received] a letter from Kees Vanes with more info on BIRD, FISH AND FLOWERS.
Also offering me 50% of that and MEMOLOG.
Rcd. a letter from Robert Braunwart III (who wrote to me on 5/27/71) with
a manuscript of new card games using the "Five Hundred Pack,"
called NEW GAMES WITH A FIVE HUNDRED PACK. The games are FIRE HUNDRED
(this is the original U.S. Playing Card Co. Game. not a new one). TRUMPS
(cont. on 8/13)
