6 Monday - August 1973
Transfiguration - 218th day - 147 days to come
Dana will want to y use the car tomorrow. Since I promised to
drive Earl home, I called him & changed out date to Thursday.
To Simulations. Spoke to Jim D. and got things pretty
well smoother out. I'll have a listing of non-war games
for him go to get feedback on for ready for S&T #41,
about the beginning of October.
Took my column back from Redmund and will add short
reviews of STARLORD, HYPERCHESS and HYPERCHECKERS. I'll
get it back to him at the beginning of next week.
When I called BB she told me that Felicia had called. Went
there.
She had a long talk with Bob Johnson. Bob is going to
have a long talk with Jim Goldsberry and try to get "holding
money" for the following: PE-LING, ANOTHER, RED LETTER,
TROMINO GO, DIGIT, DUEL, and TRIAGO.
WINDOW PAINS, TOTALLY, TRIPLE CROSS are being sent back. Also
COUNTER-INTELLIGENCE, PITFALL, INDIAN CHESS, and IMPULSE.
I asked about SHAPE AND SHATTER and she'll check with Bob Johnson
when he reports to her, probably at the end of next week.
TROTTER is in production, as a sample of that type of game.
They are running into problems, a lot of them, with the pieces.
I asked about the check for HONORABLE RELATIONS. She spoke
to Bob about it and he'll check with Burt.
They are keeping PLANES & FOCUS, but there is "still time to
run" on the original advance.
Gave Felicia the contract form that Bob Gellman gave me (for
PATTON) with my comments penciled in. She'll follow up on it.
Took the rules for MAGIC WAR TRAILS to read at home. There is
no hurry since she is not showing anything to Hallmark until all
the present things are settled.
To "Gamut of Games." Returned G&P #16 to Phil (after making
some copies of the following: THE SIGMAN FILE, NOVA,
THE PHILOSOPHER'S GAME, ARITHMETICAL CHESS, and
GAMES WITH PAPER & PENCIL.
Phil has become a member of THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF GAMES
(see 7/3) and had their catalog. They had a good selection
of games but nothing that I didn't know of. They don't
have any 3M games. They say that they will be handling
the Simulations Pub. I. games.
Took back the board for CREDIBILITY GAP that Phil had borrowed
as a guide to preparing their games.
Phil had two girls and a fellow there for game testing. We
tried the following: THE GREAT RACE (4-hand with Phil staying
out), END OF THE LINE, INVESTIGATION, and SPACE STATIONS
(with different combinations of 2 players, Phill and I staying
out). SPACE STATIONS was the most popular with the players. We
tried to come up with a new name but without success. There
