29 Sunday - July 1973
Seventh Sunday after Pentecost - 210th day - 155 days to come

BB gave me her filing cabinet and helped me carry it downstairs. Put it next to the one I had. Made room by getting rid of one pile of boxes on that wall. Brought 2 upstairs and increased the other pile to put one on the downstairs pile - making them all 4-high.
Put the patent file in one of the drawers of BB's cabinet.
BB put her material in Bekin's boxes. Brought the 8 from my south wall upstairs for her and put together one more.
BB had a manuscript that Arthur Amberstone once gave her - "The HIGH DECK - A Magical View of Man and Play." She gave it to me and I started an "Amberstone" file.

Bob Abbott called and wrangled an invite for supper tonight, He brought along a copy of THREE DIMENSIONAL MILL to show me (see 11/21/68) and was surprised that I knew about it. He also brought along a copy of a German edition of his
WHAT'S THAT ON MY HEAD?, called EGGHEAD. The name of the company (I believe) is "Spiel Club" and it is packed in a bookshelf sized box, but one that uses the Gamette closure, so far he has sold Last year they sold about 2000.
We played ARCHIEBALL. It is possible to make a play that leaves everything exactly the same, endlessly holding up the game. This can be prohibited, but a repeating series can also be set up. Having each player take two moves cuts this problem greatly, but it can still happen.
Played two games of Bob's EPAMINONDAS, losing one and winning one. Bob bought the board and GO stones. (filed the rules I rcd. [received] on 6/16 in the Bob Abbott folder.)

Call from Phil Orbanes. He got together with Carl Eisenberg last Friday. Carl didn't play thru any of the games, but just made hasty judgements.
Five games he definitely liked: MISSING LINKS (HEX); RALLY (what he now calls LAPS) - altho I'll have to change the number layout; THE GREAT RACES (11 RACES) - with the shortened path; SUPERGHOSTS - although Carl never heard of GHOSTS; EMPIRES (Phil changed the name because he knew that Carl wouldn't go for LANDGRAB).
Three games are pretty surely O.K: PAYOFF; HEXOWORD; and TRIVIA.
The others he showed were: EXPOSE - too complex; COMBINATIONS - too much computation; SPACE STATIONS - doesn't like the execution; PLOT - Manny didn't like it last year so Carl wouldn't look at it; DRILL FOR OIL - too childish and he doesn't want any children's games; SOLITAIRE DICE - he might consider it but he doesn't want to go passed 4 dice; CONNECTIONS - wants it abstract and simpler; XANDO - too simple; TOURNEY - Phil didn't have the rules but we both agreed that it wouldn't be right for Carl; AIR BATTLE - doesn't want war games. also last year he thought there was too much
