From Jim Faulkner rcd. [received] a glossy for NEXUS. Larry Burns has decided to end "Gamekeepers" which puts out CHICKADEE POKER, CHEAT-A-DICE POKER, etc. So the possibility of their taking NEXUS is gone. He has taken a job with "Warren Paper" designing new game lines. He is selling out his stock of NEXUS and would like me to review it.

Put most of my duplicate games, both my own games and others, in the boxes in Dale's room.

I asked about ROAD BUILDERS - last year they didn't like the road building context and there was too much setting up.
Carl wants to have 12 games to show to Manny and Bob, to pick 6 for publication 1/1/74. Phil figures we have 8 ready. He has an idea for improving END OF THE LINE, so that means I have to come up with 3 more, or change some that Carl didn't take.
Phil said that the premium business is being handled as a completely separate branch of Reiss' business. So far not much is happening, although the fellow in charge apparently has good connections.
Phil told me that Hoi Polloi is interested in a line of 3D plastic things. (Without his actually telling me, I gathered that there is a falling out with Mag-Nif.) Phil wants to show Carl my GROOVE and HOLEY TERROR. Told him that the latter was being considered elsewhere. Phil wants to show some of the PUZZLEs he prepared for Bill Knox. I said I also probably had some other things.
Later looked thru my things and came across SKYSCRAPERS. Also started thinking of a PUZZLE with pcs. [pieces] similar to the one shown.

They a placed to form a square at one level and then a second square is interlocked to the first.

Called Claude to tell him that I picked up the cabinet and am happy with it.

Call from Alan Newman (see 7/2). He wanted my advice on how to make it in games. Told him to listen to Felicia, turn out a lot of games and not sit around thinking about those that are in the hopper.
Told him I liked SNOOP and THE SORCEROR'S APPRENTICE and that I didn't like HIGH RISE.
He has a game THE SUPERSTAR GLAME (I believe) out for consideration with D.D.I. He got the idea when he noticed that each of the other careers in the game CAREERS had at game least one game based on it. I asked and learned that that actual acting is part of the game.
He would like to meet me and I said I'd invite him & his wife soon. He has my 3M game except EXECUTIVE DECISION. He loves BAZAAR
