Rcd. [received] G&P #15 (July). "Editorial" started with mention of me, there is an ad for an article on DEALER'S CHOICE. Article on TANGRAMS. Gyles Brandreth mentions GAME OF GOOSE and gives rules for JOTTO. "Gamesview" covers THE SIGMA FILE, GOLFWINKS, DON'T GO OVERBOARD, and YOUR MOVE. Article on PENTOMINOES. Complete info on QUANDARY.
Rcd. a booklet from "Publishers Central Bureau." Had a considerable offering of Dover Books. I was interested in the following: TEST YOUR LOGIC, 101 PUZZLES IN THOUGHT AND LOGIC, GEOMETRIC DISSECTIONS, and MATHEMATICS, MAGIC AND MYSTERY. Checked my files and found I didn't have any of them. Found that I did have two others: MAZES AND LABYRINTHS and MATHEMATICAL PUZZLES (for beginners and enthusiasts).

Called Sally Wiliams of Harper and Row. Told her I was planning my column. She said that SCARNE'S ENCYCLOPEDIA OF GAMES was sold out and a new printing was scheduled. She'll send me one, first class, as soon as the new printing is out.

Went over all the games I have to review:- STARLORD; HYPERCHESS, HYPERCHECKERS; MONEY CARD, OPTILE; KGB; WINIT, FINESSE, POLISH DOMINOES; ARCHIEBALL; DEADLOCK, DE-TOUR, LINK-UP, POUNCE, NIX, UPON-MY-WORD, CONTROLLING INTEREST; WHODUNIT, COOKS TOURS; MANHUNT; PINK PEBBLES, GENERATION RAP, THE GARBAGE GAME; IMPASSE, TAU, CLUSTER; NETRESULTS, SNOWCRYSTALS, GREATSHAPES; ZILCH; OUTLAW TRAIL; OUTDOOR SURVIVAL; MASTER MIND; DEAR ABBY, AUCTIONEER; QUADTRIPLE; THE DOT GAME, EL GAME; BILLIONAIRE, GRAPPLE, BOGGLE, FLUSTER; HOLIDAY, PATTON.
Decided that I would do column with the bulk of these games in short reviews, then expand on a few of them in future.
Called Jim Dunnigan. Told him I'd thought about it and came up with a solution. He turned me over to Redmund after he told me that issue #41 will be shipped at the end of November. Redmund thought it would be better if I used the short reviews for #40 and REALM, MONTAGE, INFINITY, and CAR-TEL for #41. I'll try to have the new column ready by the 8/13 deadline. In two pages I can get about 3400 words, Redmind told me, and if I run a little over he probably can find some room. He said he'd try his best not to bounce a column, and it has only happened once, but he can't swear that it won't happen again.
Incidentally, I had left word for Jim to call me when I called earlier. He didn't.

Call from Claude. Discussed my problem with S&T (actually this was before my call to Jim D.). Also told Claude of my disappointment with the colors of the chips. Claude thought they'd be useful.
2nd call from Claude. He was at a thrift shop and there was a metal cabinet in good condition for $15. There are 16 drawers about 11"x10"x2 1/2" deep. I told him I would like to have it and he'll put a deposit on it and I'll pick it up Monday.
