186th day - 179 days to come

Call from Felicia. She had a letter from Keith Tuggle saying he was returning INVASION and THE BRAIN GAME, but she hasn't rcd. [received] them yet. She had a letter from Kath Brooks saying that she rcd. SPECTRUM and they will be testing it in the next few weeks.
Felicia asked my opinion on asking them to return PROFIT. I said that there would be little market right now for a "stock market" game. She agreed.
Larry and Pearl would like to get their HIGH BID back from 3M and put it out themselves, with Felicia handling the publicity. Felicia has tried to get 3M to release it. No scucess. She asked Alan Newman to come up with a magnetic PUZZLE for "Maggie Magnetic" and he came up with one.
I brought up LOTTERY (see 7/2). She said that Bob Johnson and Burt Huber had seen it during Stationery show week, at her office when I wasn't there. They didn't show any interest in it at all.
I told Felicia that I made the necessary changes in 3D BOXES. She said she'd try to call Stan Harfenist and set up an appointment.
Later she called again to say that she didn't get any answer there. She'll try again at the beginning of next week.

Rcd. a letter from Gini Scott. She is sending me a copy of SIMULATION/GAMING/NEWS with a SLEUTH review. Mentions the INTERNATIONAL GAME SHOW. Also "Mag-Nif."

Rcd. an ad from BATTLE FLAG. They are starting a new magazine - CONCEPTS - dealing with "game theory and design." Also listen the games they are selling at $4 each:- OPERATION MARKET GARDEN, SEA LION, SHILOH, SALERNO, PBI, SECOND GALACTIC WAR. BREAKOUT and GRAF SPEE are crossed out.

Thinking of more p&p games:
1) 11 RACES (tentative name). The numbers from 2 to 11 are listed with spaces next to each for up to four players to keep a record. 4 dice are used and player can divide them into 2 pairs of 2 each. Being first to complete a race scores as follows:- 2 or 12 - 3 pts. [points]; 3, 4, 10, or 11 - 2 pts; 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9 - 1 pt. Or these can be doubled for 1st and points given for 2nd when 3 or 4 play.
2) CHOOSE-A-LETTER (tentative name). The 7x7, or therabouts, field is filled in with letters. A particular letter space is chosen as a start. Players in turn chose a letter that is in line with the starting space or with the last taken letter. Each player has spaces for a number of words and can place letters in these spaces wherever desired. Score for length or completed words.
