Called Martin Gardner. Told him about IDIOT STICK. It is a very old
idea and he used to make them out of pencils, using the erasors
for mounting propellors.
He asked if I met Alex Rudolph, who was up to see him without
Tom. Told him that Alex gave me a Chinese JUNGLE GAME. Martin
heard somewhere - he thought it was from me - that Bell had
invented the game himself and was interested in a Chinese
version. I said that I didn't know, but the fact that Hong
Kong put out a set doesn't prove anything. I have seen Hong
Kong versions of CHINESE CHECKERS.
Told him that I had called about WEDDING BELLS and that
it was done in 1902.
Martin saw a full page ad for INFINITY in Analog Magazine.
Told him about it and offered to get him a set. Not interested.
He saw an article about Watergate in TIMES today. (Bought
it and it included THE WATERGATE SCANDAL card game and
THE WATERGATE GAME - the poster game I saw at Brentanos.)
We'll get together when I catch up.

Called "Synthetic Plastics Novelties" (see 5/21). The fellow (Paul
Eisland) was very pleasant, but told me that probably there
wouldn't be any purple chips in the sets. Told him I'd think
about it and get back to him.
Felicia called. She spoke to Stan Harfenist and the decision
they have to make seems to be whether to put out 3D BOXES
for 1974 or 1975. If the latter we will get a good advance.
He certainly doesn't want us showing it to anyone else.
Rcd. May TOYS. "New" listed RACECOURSE (see 3/23).
Bought June 5 WORLD Magazine. Has a lot on Dunnigan and
Simulations Publications. Ends with a column on me which is a
little inaccurate. Games mentioned are: MONOPOLY, DEALER'S CHOICE,
BILLIONAIRE, LANDSLIDE, THE SIGMA FILE, NEO-CHESS, STOCKS AND BONDS,
HIGH BID, FEUDAL, REGATTA, EXECUTIVE DECISION, CHESS, DIPLOMACY,
SMOG, DIRTY WATER, POPULATION, SOMA, OFFICE PARTY, SEDUCTION,
AROUND THE WORLD IN BED, and a number of war games.
In evening worked a little on PATTON rules.
