19 SATURDAY - MAY 1973
ARMED FORCES DAY - 139TH DAY - 226 DAYS TO COME
Added a few things to the JACKPOTS board. Played part
of a game with Anthony Papa and then BB finished the
game.
In evening played JACKPOTS with Al Richter and Brian. Decided
to stop with when all the first and second jackpots were hit.
Brian went to sleep and BB and Adela joined us in playing
SPECTRUM. They liked it.
During day looked in TOYS directory and saw that Crisloid has
a ga a listing for JACK POT. Decided to call my game
HIT THE JACKPOT.
While listening to radio heard two separate mentions of a
game called WATERGATE - no details.
At the Richter's told Al that I was showing puzzles tomorrow
and asked if he had any around that I could show of his. Ed-
son has just about all of his. I took one called SIX BEADS
[drawing of tower] which consists of four rings mounted on a dowel
so that they can rotate. They have lines of
beads as follows [drawing of beads] object is to
get 6 beads
in each vertical
row.
Solution. 030 is unique.
Put 2030 on bottom.
33 is unique. Put this
pc. next with 0213 over
the 4 numbers before.
101 is unique. Put 1210
over the previous numbers.
Put 3213 above.
Al showed me his scheme for setting up DON'T BLOW A FUSE.
In the bases he has the bases contacts connected as shown [drawing of contacts]
In the pcs. they are either [drawing of pieces; straight line] which has a 50-50
chance of completing a contact or they are [drawing of pieces; diagonal line]
which can't possibly close a contact. He has it
worked out so that 5 (I believe) contacts must be closed
but they can be in different places. Eventually all
will be closed because of the number of each type in-
volved. He figures on letting the contacts on the pcs.
show and I suggested as a red herring having --> [drawing]
some as shown.
