14 MONDAY - MAY 1973
134TH DAY - 231 DAYS TO COME
Called Bob Champer to tell him that 8 pages of historical
material is needed for PATTON. Together with some illus-
trations he thinks he has enough. He'll try drawing the illus-
trations for reproduction. If he doesn't make them good enough
I'll draw them. He'll call me next Friday to keep in touch.
Called Bob Gellman with the idea of talking about the PATTON
contract, to have the money sent to Felicia instead of to
me. Out of town this week.
Called Martin Gardner He was just about to send me a
postcard about a game WEDDING BELLS he saw it at an
antique show, The man wanted $14 dollars for it but
Martin thinks I can get it for around $10. Also the
fellow said he had more games at his office. Took his
address: {Whiting Antiques
25 Fernwood Drive
New City, N.Y. 10956 (914-634-5412)
I'll call him and find out when he is open. The four of
us will go there in about 2 weeks, also to other an-
tique places and to eat out.
Rcd. a call from Philip Shoptaugh (inventor of TAU and IMPASSE).
He will be in town for the Stationary Show and would like to
get together. I'll meet him at the [illegible strikeout] Four Generations booth
next Monday and arrange for him to visit here.
Wrote to Tom Atwater. Told him I can come up with a GAME, but I need
some more input. Maybe we can talk at Stationary Show.
Wrote to Stephen L. Sniderman. Apologized about CONTROL and FOOL'S GOLD.
Called Larry Blandin (INTERNATIONAL GAME SHOW) person-to-person, collect.
Not in. Left number for him to call me back.
Called Whitny Antiques. It is a home-based operation and they are only
there evenings and weekends - and it is necessary to make an
appointment. Asked about WEDDING BELLS. It is by "Walter Hart" and
dated 1920. The only other game they have of possible interest to me
is OVER THERE, a World War I game by M.B.
Covered the colors on the sides of the SPECTRUM board with black.
Also added arrows. Played 4-hand by myself o.k. It is possible
for a situation to develop near the end of the game where it
is to no one's advantage to play a pc. If all players pass the
game is over and each player takes penalty chips for all re-
maining pcs.
Wrote two letters to Lech Pijanowsky (different addresses) telling
him of THE PROPAGANDA GAME being returned.
