13 SUNDAY - MAY 1973
THIRD SUNDAY OF EASTER - MOTHER'S DAY - 133RD DAY - 323 DAYS TO COME

Played SPECTRUM with Dave (Korublum) and Eliott. Started with my ideas of yesterday, but the 5 chip bonus for completing the transfer of a tower before starting a second one kept players from accumulating any chips. Decided to eliminate it. At first counted the movement of a pc. [piece] from the neutral side as one chip, but then changed it to 2 chips. They both liked it.
Later thinking of the 2-hand game. Decided on having each player play his two edges separately. As soon as any one edge is complete (and with no extra turns in this case, since the first player starts with his left-hand edge) the game is over and the player completing gets penalties for his other edge. On second thought it probably would be best to allow completing the round so that each edge has the same number of plays. Also use a random method of determining which edge goes first.
Later played 4-hand by myself. Worked well.

(cont. from 5/17) [5/17]

Call from Felicia she is going to call Hallmark and wanted to know the game of mine they are considering, IMPULSE.
2nd call. She spoke to Bob Johnson. He hasn't had the chance to test IMPULSE completely yet and he'll send it back if we ask. However its prospects are "better than good." We will get together to discuss the game prefor program completely on either 5/24 or 5/25. The program, he says, looks very encouraging.
Felicia called Lakeside. Both Stan Harfenist and Karen are on vacation, so no word on 3D BOXES. If Lakeside rejects it Felicia would like to ride up to MB [Milton Bradley] to present it. She said that she'd pay for the gas.

Wrote to Henryk Szwarce (see 4/12). Sent IMAGE review in WASHINGTON POST and S&T.
Found the letters from Mike Abrams and Garry Shirts and I was looking for yesterday. Wrote to Mike. Mentioned PATTON, HOLIDAY, FITTING AND PROPER, THE RIGHT CONNECTIONS, BLOCK 'N SCORE. Sent my S&T and WASHINGTON POST columns. Also mentioned STAR POWER and SAN FRANCISCO EXAMINER.

More thinking on JACK POTS decided to reduce the number to 12 and place them in a looped continuous path. Made a possible layout. Used 6 colors, so that 6 can play, and with 2 in a space there are 15 possible combinations. Used 12 of these.
