Wrote up WATER W WATERWORKS, finishing my column. BB typed the remainder.

Letter from Leonard Williett. He is checking with N.Y. State about my "unincorporated tax status" - but he is asking a general question without mentioning me. He also suggested a "Keough" retirement plan.
Letter from Earl Doherty. He, Alfons, and Les Martindale (of Waddington) will be in town for Stationery Show and Earl would like the three of them to visit me, either on 5/20 or 5/21. Martindale is the product development manager of John Waddington.

To S&T. Gave my column to Redmund. Reproduced my column from #37; the solution for NINE OF SWORDS; and the rules and charts and pieces for DECLINE & FALL. Returned the game to Jim D.. Took another copy of #37. Also took duplicate copies of KURSK & MOSCOW CAMPAIGN.

To 200 5th. Stopped at S&R [Selchow and Righter] and took copies of COOKS TOURS & WHODUNIT. Looked at LOTTERY GAME and took a catalog sheet on it. Wrote the rules on this sheet and placed it in box with WHODUNIT.
Stopped at R.G.I. - Athol. The Athol head (Stan ?) said that Bob Gellman is expected back tomorrow. I asked to have Bob call me. Stan said that they will be needing the PATTON rules soon. I said that I'd aim for the end of next week.

To "Gamut of Games." Phil was out but secretary said he'd be right back. Waited about 15 minutes but left before he returned. While waiting I looked at a book called GAMBLER'S DIGEST, by Clement McQuaid (edited that is). Has a piece on BRIDGETTE. There was a game called YOTSY. It is just about the same as YACHT except that instead of "chance" there are two boxes - "high" and "low." When a throw is entered in one of these, the entry in the other must be properly higher or lower.

Called Bob Champer to tell him I won't be home Thursday. He'll call me Friday to see how I'm doing on the PATTON rules.

CAPABLANCE CONCENTRIC CHESS - Regular CHESS played on circular field, so that there are no sides. FOUR HANDED CHESS - Played on an 8x8 field with 4-16 space additions. A player, or partners when played partnership can place different types of pcs. [pieces] on one space so as to control more directions. But they can be taken off together. Spoke to inventor and got this general idea. The woman in charge said that they don't give samples to anyone, but she'll sell me one at wholesale. I said no and she said she'll send the rules and I said I'd try to do a review from the rules. I later found the fol-
