4 FRIDAY - MAY 1973
124TH DAY - 241 DAYS TO COME

Played two games of TRIPLE YAHTZEE by myself.

Call from Claude. He's taking a vacation from game creation. Made a date to get together next Tuesday (after I bring in my S & T column).

Rcd. [received] a U.P.S. package with SNOWCRYSTALS, NETRESULTS, and GREAT SHAPES. There is one piece missing in the latter. Tried to identify it but couldn't find a pattern in the setup.

(cont. from 5/5) [5/21]

Phil Shoptaugh told me about his game LINES - he sent me the patent on it. He has now simplified it greatly but is still not sure Four Generations will do it. (Incidentally, he is taking some of his royalties in stock so he'll have a stake in the company.)

The board is as shown. Each player has the following pcs. [pieces]

[Two diagrams: The larger shows a roughly 4 x 4 grid of interconnected squares and hexagons. The smaller shows three different hexagon pieces along with a small square piece. These are all identical in size to the associated spaces on the board. There are 2 of one hex, 4 of another, 2 of a third one, and 8 of the squares.]

Two play and take turns placing pcs. [pieces], either an octagon or a square. A square pc. [piece] must remain where it is placed. A player may, instead of placing a pc. [piece], rotate an octagon or move it to another position. He still hasn't decided whether to allow a moved pc. to be rotated and, if rotated, a limit of one face on a turn or any number. Object is to complete a path between the players two sides of the board. Opponent's pcs. can be used and a path can turn at a crossing point.
