2 WEDNESDAY - MAY 1973
122ND DAY - 243 DAYS TO COME
To Boston Post Road for 4 copies of the 3D BOXES molds dwg.
At John's bought 2 copies of LET'S PLAY BASKETBALL and
1 of LET'S BOWL-A-GAME - $1.00 for the 3 of them.
Call from Felicia. Someone is interested in BREAKDOWN so she
called Schaper in Minneapolis. She didn't speak to Bill Garrity
but the girl she spoke to promised a quick answer on BREAKDOWN.
All three of my games are very much in the running. (FREE FORM,
PUSHOVER, and PAIR OFF) Bailey's things (CHALLENGER IV and
ROLLA DEAL POKER) are not as strong. She also reports
that OPTILE and MONEY CARD are doing very well.
Wrote to Graeme Levin about AGOG and Book Sales Inc. Mentioned
G&P #9 and #12. Also TREK.
Called Martin Gardner to tell him about being mentioned
in the 4/23 issue of TIME. He knew.
At David Eisendrath's (see 3/21/72) Martin met Mark Odier, the
inventor of TRIOKER. Odier's English is very poor so they could hardly
communicate. Martin thinks that Tom Atwater is still working with
Odier. Martin was given two games, one with triangular pcs.
(TRIOKER no doubt) and another with square pcs. Martin will give
them to me when we get together.
A fellow, Parker Smith, who is connected with "Golf Magazine,"
is interested in putting out games under the name "Rainy
Day Games" (or something like that). Martin already told him
about me. He will be visiting Martin and Martin will get tell
me about it.
Martin rcd. a letter from someone who is interested in starting
a "game" magazine. Martin didn't remember who it was and
couldn't put his finger on the letter right now.
Martin said the JOURNAL OF RECREATIONAL MATHEMATICS is being
published again after stopping for about a year, by a new publisher.
The edition he just rcd. (Winter '73) he thinks is better than
it was before. It has a GAME based on "graphs" which is some-
what similar to SPROUTS, but quite different. There is also
a good article on the "Lucas Squares" (I think that's the right
name).
Martin has bought a "Scott" duplicator for $500, second hand. Copies
run about 2 1/2¢ each. It can copy from books.
I'll call the end of next week and we'll arrange to get together.
Sent a check for $1 to Brian Libby for OPERATION GRIEF, and a
thank you note.
Called Jim Dunnigan to ask if it is o.k. to have my next S&T
column in the coming Monday or Tuesday. No problem.
