26 THURSDAY - APRIL 1973
116TH DAY - 249 DAYS TO COME

At Mike Baschkopt's office made a rough layout of the
3D BOXES playing field and tried a game allowing rods to
be placed anywhere. It was a bore. Rewrote the rules, in-
cluding everything except the 3-rod corner "force" as the
basic game, and the "force" as a variation for advanced players.
Mike ran off two copies of the illustrations for me and
I colored them red to represent the rods in place.
BB typed the new rules in the evening.
Made a sketch of an illustration for PATTON to get an idea of
how it should look.
On Chambers St. bought 10/72, 11/72, and 2/73 SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN's

is here on vacation with his wife. He is well known in British war-gaming
circles. He has left his job selling advertising to devote his full time to sell-
