25 WEDNESDAY - APRIL 1973
ST. MARK, EVANGELIST - 115TH DAY - 250 DAYS TO COME

Drew up the two illustrations for the 3D BOXES instructions.
Vivianne Meyers here with THE MOZART GAME (see 4/2/73), It is
not really a game. Rather it consists of two sets of
88 cardboard piceces pieces, each having a bar of music on
it. Each set is used separately, one giving a "Waltz", the
other a "Contra Dance." A chart is given for each, giving num-
bers from 2 to 12 and headings from A thru H, and a number
from 1 to 88 listed at the intersections. The dice are thrown
and the proper bar chosen under A and places under an
elastic. Then B, etc. thru H. Then a new line of music is
generated in the same way. In playing on the piano the
first line is played once then twice and the second once.
Vivianne was concerned that handling all the pcs. of
cardboard would be a nuisance and I suggested printing all
of the "A" pcs. on one strip which is pulled thru a window,
etc. for the other letters. Vivianne thought of the idea of
printing them on soft plastic so that they could be joined
at the ends and wrapped around the container.
We discussed possible marketing ideas and I suggested book
publishers, and she'll pursue this.
She got the "game" from a friend who helped TIME magazine
on a cover story. They didn't pay her, but instead gave her
a very old model of the "game" and told her that it prob-
ably was done by Mozart. They, Vivianne and her friend, tried to
confirm his inventing it but haven't been able to.
She had a tape recorder with some examples of the music gener-
ated and she forgot it. Called me in the evening and I
agreed to return it to her husband's office at Br Fifth Ave.
and 33rd St.
Wrote the rules for 3D BOXES. Gave as a "basic game"
the rules allowing players to place rods anywhere. Then
gave additions. BB typed the rules.
Rcd. some more promotional material for INTERNATIONAL GAME SHOW,
with me meth mentioned as "hailed as the country's leading game inventor."
