19 THURSDAY - APRIL 1973
MAUNDY THURSDAY - PATRIOTS' DAY (MAINE) - 109TH DAY - 256 TO COME

Rcd. a letter from Bob Abbott. He has started inventing games again and will call me in a few weeks.

Finished cutting the plastic pieces for 3D BOXES. Bought wire in Pioneer to make the cube identifiers. Played with Dale.

Claude and Earl here for supper. Played 3D BOXES with Claude and he liked it.
Played Claude's WHITE ELEPHANTS, including BB and Earl. The rules
are as 10/19/72 with the following changes:-

[7x4 grid board drawing]

cards:- Elephants - 4, 5, 9
Bird - 2222, 888888, 999999 (1 pt. each)
Green - 888, 9999, 10, 10, 10, 10 (2 pts. each)
Red - 333, 444, 555 (5 pts. each)
Blue - 22, 33, 44, 55, 66, 77, 8 (10 pts. each)
The highest card played to a trick wins (if two are equal, first played wins) unless the last card of the trick divides equally into the high card, in which case the last card wins.
At first played that 1 "white elephant" scored +30, 2- -60, 3- +90. This always results in a spread of 90 points which overshadows the other play. Claude then decided to make a "white elephant" -30 unless all 3 are won, which scores +90.
Started to play Earl's ITINERARIES (see 5/8/73) but even he was discouraged with the complications and we didn't play.
He wants to try and convince a Japanese firm (no particular one in mind) in publishing our games. I tried to stop him from wasting his time, but finally promised to get him rev copies of the SATURDAY REVIEW article "The Game Game" and a N.Y. TIMES article from 12/29/72 (in 1972 misc.). He wants them for a presentation.

Claude brought me a bound set of THE BRIDGE WORLD for 1964 which he picked up in a Thrift Shop for 10¢.

Called Felicia to tell her that I had finished. Not in. Left word for her to call me. Didn't.

Gave Claude the 4/8 article from the TIMES (one of 3 copies) but he forgot it.
