Rcd. a letter from Don Greenwood. Sort of invited me to write for the GENERAL. Asked if I enjoyed receiving copies of RICHTHOFEN'S WAR and BASEBALL STRATEGY. (Haven't received them.)
Rcd. a package from D.D.I. with OUTLAW TRAIL and ASTROLOGY.

Made a smaller layout of 3D BOXES. To Boston Rd. for 16 repros. Played a few with myself. Made a rule that a line must be placed next to at least one already placed. Then added a rule that a player must play from a corner with an even number of lines, if there are any. Played with Al Richter in the evening using this rule. It played o.k., but he ran off about 6 boxes at one time. I'll have to work on making the boxes come one or a few at a time. Possibly making the requirement that a corner with 3 lines has to be played on. Incidentally, when a player completed a face of a box he plays again.
I spoke to Al about doing the model of 3D BOXES, but he is starting a new job on Monday. He gave me some advice on doing it an offered to drill the holes on his drill press. Actually I had all the details of construction worked out and he gave me advice on tools etc. He also suggested that how a commercial model could be done with one mold

Dale called to tell me that the TIMES Magazine section had an article on games that mentioned EXECUTIVE DECISION, MONAD, and SLEUTH.

Played WHAT'S IT WORTH TO YOU?, the sit down version, with the
Karlins. They liked it a lot. We played 4 hands. Sid made
a sequence of 9 in one, and 10 in two others.
Played FREE FORM and they liked it, but not as much

Felicia gave GAME IN HAND back to Helen. Also told her that she thinks that WINNING STREAK might be a better name for CHALLENGER IV.
When Helen left Felicia told me that the rules came back from American Greetings. I added the PAIR OFF rules to the model Felicia had there. Took FOREIGN INTRIGUE and OVER 'N OVER with me.
In their letter American Greetings said that they liked the theme of FOREIGN INTRIGUE, but not the game. Left FREE FORM with Felicia.
Felicia tried to find out from the Schaper showroom when Bill Garrity would be in town. Possibly today. Ar-

To Bob Gellman again. Met his new artist, Rick Lewis. Made date to bring him the PATTON boards next Monday at the R.G.I. office. After Rick left discussed the rules with Bob. There is no hurry. He would like me to limit the illus- trations in the rules since they cost $50 each.
