6 FRIDAY - APRIL 1973
96TH DAY - 269 DAYS TO COME

Phil Orbanes called while I was out and I called back.
He told me that the five p. and p. games by Hoi Polloi are now called VEGAS 13, DAM-IT (COUTERPOINT), WORD PLAY (WORDS FOR THE WISE), CHINESE CHECK (the board was changed to all triangles in an overall shape like CHINESE CHECKERS, there are some spaces with the names of Chinese cities) NINE-TAC-TOE (NINE LIVES). They will sell for $2 individually or $7 for the set of five. We will get 4¢ on each individual game. They only want to give us 8¢ on a set. Phil will try to get at least 10¢. Carl projects sales of 75,000 each for the individuals and 25,000 for the sets.
I said that I feel guilty about splitting the royalties since all the games are Phil's. He said that it would work out fine since his new contract with "Gamut of Games" prohibits him from doing any games for the regular market outside of "Gamut of Games." So when, and if, they want the next batch can be mine.
Under the new setup at "Gamut" Djoli will not draw any more salary, only royalties. He will be supplying most of the games for the company. Phil will be doing very little, if any more game creation for the regular market. However Carl Eisenberg will be getting assignments for premium games which Phil will be working on. Possibly I may be brought into this too. It will be on a flat fee basis.
For the $4 line Djoli will be developing some original games and also will adapt some standards. One thing he is working on is a [illegible strikeout] dice GAME. I suggested SOLITAIRE DICE but Djoli wants to do almost all the games himself. He is quite interested in my COLLECTOR'S CHOICE for the line however.
The connection between "Gamut" and Reiss will be very close. All billing will be by Reiss with the Hoi Polloi name on the bill as well as "Gamut of Games."
Arranged to have me come there Monday at 11 A.M. to go over the galleys of INFINITY.

Felicia also called me while I was out and I called back. She asked me to check with Bob Gellman about Ruth [illegible strikeout] Shaler's slides. (Later found out that he had returned all except the Taj Mahol, which he used on the cards.)
Made date Monday at 1:30 to bring her PUSHOVER, FREE FORM, and FOREIGN INTRIGUE. Also she will arrange to have Helen Bailey bring some of Bradford's new things.
Told her that I was working on 3D BOXES.

Rcd. [received] an envelope from Keith Tuggle with the boards for SUPER-TAC-TOE and TAKE-A-WORD (in poor condition) and a letter from Keith saying that he is sending back HABITAT. Also that they have misplaced the pcs. [pieces] from the two small games. He is sorry that something couldn't be worked out so that they could be used for their p.&p. series. Also sent back copies of the rules for the 2 games on their copy paper.

Rcd. [received] ALBION #43. Included SOLDIERS, WINTER WAR, PANZERBLITZ,
