26 MONDAY - MARCH 1973
KUHIO DAY (HAWAII) - 85TH DAY - 280 DAYS TO COME
Call from Felicia. She was going to see Odette Willis today.
Spoke about L'ANNEAU ENCHANTE DE TOM TIT a little. Told her
I'd test it as soon as I got an opportunity.
She was wondering if she should call Keith Tuggles to ask
him about the status of INVASION, etc. I mentioned that
Keith had sent me the "American Greetings" Games.
Told her that I was working on something to show to
Lakeside. That it was like BINGO and could be put out
in different editions - SEE THE U.S.A.
2nd call from Felicia. She chuck called Keith. Not in and she
left word to have him call.
She called "American Greetings" and they said they'd give
us answers soon.
She called Schaper here. The president is coming in to-
morrow. She called long distance to see if Garrith was
also coming. He's in California, but to be on the safe side
I postponed my date with Leonard Willett till Thursday in case
I had to bring in FREEFORM and PUSHOVERTomorrow tomorrow.
3rd call. Keith called. He is returning HABITAT. It is too compli-
cated, and they have better puzzles.
He'd like me to change TAKE-A-WORD and SUPER-TAC-TOE to
p.&p. games. As far as the others - INVASION, THE BRAIN GAME,
TRY-ANGLES, and QUADRUME - are concerned, he didn't have a
chance to look at them yet and if she wants he'll send
them all back. She told him to hold them.
I told her that 3M doesn't want to pay royalties for p&p
games. Also that I had a contract that forbade me doing p&p games.
She was very annoyed with me and said that she couldn't han-
dle someone if they were making deals behind her back. It
wasn't the money, but it made her look foolish. I told her
that she was right, and that I would tell her about my out-
side activities. Tom Atwater - Stancraft thru him, but not
working with him now. "Infinity-Quest" is my other agent.
Thru I-Q I am working with "Gamut of Games" - now as a consultant and
maybe later they'll do some of my games.
When I first told Felicia about my contract she said that there was a-
nother company going into games, but she wasn't going to show my things
to them. At the end of the call she was over being angry and before
this said she wouldn't mention it again.
4th call. She asked me if ACQUIRE was being sold in France. (For
Odette?) Told her that I had seen it in Paris at "Le Nain [illegible strikeout] Bleue."
She said that Stan Chess had been in with 2 of George Bredehorn's
games. One - PURSUIT - she kept to show to Lakeside, it was fun.
The other - LUKKIT - she said got boring, even tho it was a gambling
game and she usually likes them. She described it and I realized
it is the same as FOURPLAY (see 10/30/72).
She [illegible strikeout] called Keith a second time - for some other unstated reason
and told him that I couldn't do p&p games because of a con-
tractual obligation. He will send HABITAT, TAKE-A-WORD, and
SUPER-TAC-TOE directly to me. They are having a lot of confer-
(cont. on 3/25)
