75th Day - 290 Days to Come

To Simulations. Met with Bob Champer. Discussed my idea for the PATTON mechanism. He pointed out, and I checked, that the dice use was a little similar to that in QUÉBEC 1759. But not enough to worry about. [illegible word crossed out]
We agreed that he would work on "The Battle of the Bulge" while I worked on "Sicily." We'll get together next week and check them out. Then we'll work on "France" together.
Bob found a history of World War I and II for me. I reproduced the section on "Sicily." // Gave Bob check for $50.
Phil F. gave me copies of: AUSTERLITZ, MUSKET & PIKE, KOREA, RIFLE & SABER, AMERICAN REVOLUTION. (Later discovered that I already had AMERICAN REVOLUTION.) In RIFLE & SABER the "Turn Record Chart" seems to be missing, also in MUSKET & PIKE.*
Ran off 3 repros [reproductions] of a game I found on the bulletin board - AWOL - A GAME FOR LOSERS.
Sal talked to me about a game idea he had - RIP-OFF. He spoke to Jim D. about it and if they take it it will be for a flat fee. Sal once spoke to Phil Orbanes about it and Phil was interested at that time in working with him. I said I'd check with Phil (but I forgot when we did get together).
Took a copy of S&T to give to Phil.

  • At later time spoke to Jim D, and he said they weren't really necessary and listing

them was a mistake.

To Felicia's. Gave her $30 check for PATTON. Looked at LOTTERY and it was in good shape. Looked at MAVERICK COUNTRY and decided that it really wasn't good enough to show to Lakeside. She appreciated my decision. She thought the name LADY LUCK was O.K.

To "Gamut of Games," Played I Went over my corrections in REALM and INFINITY. Phil made notes and also kept the copies I marked up. He'll fix them up and then get them to me for a final check.
Played INFINITY with Phil, Djoli, and Nick.
BB rcd. [received] a call from someone in a school and gave her my number at "Gamut." She is setting up a career conference at the Jr. H.S. [Junior Highschool] (I believe) and wanted me to talk about career opportunities in Games. (She got my name from Mike Albers.) I told her that I really didn't know about opportunities in game companies and that I would have to be very negative about free-lancing. She thanked me.
Phil made out a contract for my work on REALM - 3¢ a game. He wanted to put a 5-year cut-off on the contract, but Djoli said 5 years.
Went with Djoli to visit Waddimir Waldimir Van Zedwitz (Wad Waldy Waldy). Supper at the Carlyle Hotel. Then to Djoli's room to test MONTAGE with Nick a girl friend of his. Wally kibitzed. Played one game and part of a second, but I had to go back to the office to get my things, I left them there thinking we were coming back.
Before this Djoli and Waldy talked about their feeling that INFINITY was too complicated. I said that I thought it [illegible word crossed out]
