15 Thursday - March 1973 74th Day - 291 Days to Come
Rcd. [received] copies of G & P #10 and #11 (a duplicate instead of #9 that I) needed.) #10 included articles on: BRIDGE, CLUEDO, CRIBBAGE, ROULETTE, POKER, STALINGRAD, CONSERVATION, PENTOMINOES
Rcd. [received] $200 from R. G. I. as an advance on PATTON. Deposited in ChemBank.
Rcd. [received] a set of INFINITY rules from Phil Orbanes corrected in accordance with my suggestions. Went over them and also the REALM rules.
Called Felicia to tell her about PATTON advance. She called me back. She is very hepped up about Lakeside and their volume. Their word game - PERQUACKEY she thinks - did half a million last year.
In line with the advice from her board of directors she is getting rid of most of her clients: - Bailey, Turoff (because he runs around to manufacturers himself), among others. She is not sure whether to keep Claude. Told her about his redo of LINES OF ACTION (LOA).
For Lakeside (Stan H. is coming in at the beginning of April) all she has of mine is LOTTERY and MAVERICK COUNTRY. She'll have me at the meeting, although he said he doesn't want to meet any investors. They want things that the whole family can play and that can have new editions. Later thought that, since S & R has come out with [illegible word crossed out] LOTTERY GAME, I might change LOTTERY to LADY LUCK.
Alice McElhone stopped by with 3 copies of AGOG she bought at Brentamo's for her husband, her son, and her brother (the inventor of TRIPPPLES). She mentioned that there is a Professor in Yale who studies games seriously, she'll send me more info on him.
The POST had an article about Aurora. They now claim to be second in the country, behind M. B., in the game-toy business. (Didn't keep article.)
In morning BB typed the ROUND 'N ROUND OVER 'N OVER rules and I got repros.
Sent set of repros with note to Mac McGuire at American
Greetings. Also enclosed diagram of the board.
Sent the reproductions of THE PROPAGANDA GAME to Lech Pianowski.
(cont. from 3/16) [3/16]
could be trimmed somewhat.
While I was out. Odette Willis called. She has been trying to buy SCARNE DICE to send to Vittet but hasn't been able to find it. She is sending me two games from Vitted. (Incidentally Djoli met Vittet thru [through] Pierre Berloquin. He thinks that Vittet is too old to come up with anything original.) She'll call tomorrow.
Claude called while I was out. Wants me to contact him.
Rcd. [recieved] the pcs [pieces], and rules for STRATO CHECKERS DOUBLES.
