27 Tuesday - February 1973
58th day - 307 days to come
Felicia called to asked me to bring up QUADRUME, TRY-ANGLES,
TRIAD, and AVARICE to Keith Tuggle when I see him
tomorrow. While looking at the for the rules of the last two to
familiarize myself with them I came across rules for
TIC-TAC-TRIX an Aco game. the I picked up the rules at G&R
in 1971. One of the sub-games was called SUPER-TAC-TOE.
Rcd. [received] the copy of A TOY IS BORN. Rcd. NOST-ALGIA #154. Phil Cohen has more on SPROUTS. Mentions DWOB as a game he'd like to play by mail-in a long list.
Called Mr. Morin about the AGOG royalties. No answers yet. He'll
call me when they check it thru.
Gave Alfons the BOOK WORLD with 4000 AD. He appreciated it.
The International Game Toy Fair. Met Alfons Rubbens at Waddington/
House of Games exhibit: //Told Alfons about Roger Verhulst.
- GOLFWINKS - Golf game using Tiddely Wink idea. There are two fairway
pieces, a green, and various hazards. These can be put together in
different way 5 to farm 18 roles (diagrams on cards) with different pars.
- LANCER - A redo of ASTRO-BLITZ. (He'll send.)
- KGB - (Earl Doherty's). There are two of these. Game 1 - get a
formula and get out of camp. Game 2 - Sabotage 6 "monitors" and
get out of camp, or catch the sabateur: also called DOUBLE AGENT. (He'll send.)
- THE GREAT DOWNHILL SKI RACE - They are taking over. I promised
to send my S&T writeup. (Will pack in a flat box.)
- RAT RACE - completely revised. (He'll send.)
- ULCERS - Same as previous except that equip't [equipment] for 6 is provided.
- SPECULATE - Didn't see this displayed so I asked. Parker is
considering it so they can't display it, since they may not handle it.
House of Games is building a big factory and will be
manufacturing in Canada.
When the president of Parker of Canada came along they
hid KGB. He is not popular.
I asked about ADMIRALS. It is simply a twist on BATTLESHIPS.
I asked about BEAT THE ELF and KOLOR KRAZE which weren't
on display. They are still in the line and they'd like more.
Explain SKYSCRAPERS (and mentioned TORUS). Alfons would like to
see it but is afraid about the cost. I'll show it to him at
Stationery Show when he will be in with Earl Doherty.
At Marlon Creations Spoke to G.N. Hanna of Spear's. He told me
that Spear's had reissued REVERSI and it was doing well.
I mentioned that I was trying to get TREK thru Graeme Levin.
Hanna said that Spear's gives Levin everything he asks for.
From Bayazid & Co., Beirut Lebanon, got a game called
WORLD COMMODITY FUTURES TRADING. It is made to retail for $9.99, post-
paid. I think he said he'd send a glossy. (Later found that I couldn't
understand the rules. Some knowledge of commodity trading, I think, is
needed.) Told him about Roget Verhulst.
Funtastick Co. had THE DOT GAME. There is an array of 7x7 "dots".
Between them there are grooves for laying plastic
