7 WEDNESDAY - FEBRUARY 1973
38TH DAY - 327 DAYS TO COME

Letter from Graeme Levin. Will see that I get G & P #9 & #10. Will get to TREK as soon as possible. Will look into the situation with AGOG.

Started thinking about the "Permissions" on the Random House statement and called Richard B. Morin [illegible strikeout] (see 2/3) to ask him about it. It was for permission to use parts of the book. I asked him if it would be too much trouble to look up which publication(s) were given the permission. He will have soeone look it up and have them call me, within a week.

Mel Bernstein here with his wife, Betty, to show us his game SARACEN. The board was attractive and the basic spaces were diamond shaped. The object was for th two hand game was between the Saracens and either the English, French, or Austrians. The object is to occupy two special spaces out of 3 on the Saracen side or two spaces on the side representing the starting space of the Crusaders. Moves are determined by the turn of cards, and drawing a card of own color gives another draw. Certain cards allow cause every piece on a players side to move. (There are a lot of complications th but no really new play principles. I am not attempting to put down any of the details.)
I suggested A.H. [Avalon Hill] but Mel tried them and they are not using any new sources. Showed him FEUDAL as the reason that 3M would not be interested. I told him I'd talk to Felicia about it and let him know whether she is interested.
Bill Sullivan, at Simulations (a researcher - Dale tells me) gave Mel Phil Orbanes' number as well as mine, but told Mel to watch out for Phil. I told Mel he had no reason to worry. He'll call Phil, altho I told him that there probably wasn't much chance.

During day called Odette Willis and changed our date at Felicia's to Thursday at 2. Checked it with Felicia. Then called Claude and set up Thursday at 4 for him to show her UPSTAGE.

them easier to follow. I'll go there at 12:30 on 2/15 to look at the rules, and the company will get me us lunch.

Played 2-hand THE BRAIN GAME with BB. Played quite well. I thought that BB was way ahead but it ended quite close. The ending with the 7-11 etc. seemed fine - not that it lasted very long. A point that came up - a player with a double does not have to tread out of classification if he does not have more than one of any classification.
