3 SATURDAY - FEBRUARY 1973
34TH DAY - 331 DAYS TO COME

Rcd., from Regis Game Co. , a board and pcs for SHACKLES. Also
rules for : - SWACKLES, HEXIT, BUMBLE, HEX-CHEX, SHUCKS!,
CAUGHT IN THE MIDDLE, HEXCHECKERS, DOOP.
Letter enclosed saying he'll talk to me one day. The letter lists
all the above games and also FOX HUNT.

Rcd. a statement from Random House of $1643.36 earnings in
1972. This included $86.45 for books I ordered.

Wrote the rules for IMPULSE and BB typed them. Started
filling in the Illustrations.
Played THE BRAIN GAME with the Laurences. The forced trades,
etc. played well. The buying of cards after all were removed
from the tray was not popular. Later thought of the following
idea. At this stage a player who chooses to throw the dice,
and anyone may pass, picks a card before he throws. He then
pays $1,000 x the total of the 3 dice. If he throws a total of 7
(15 chances in 216) he gets the card free. If he throws a total
of 11 (27 chances in 216) he pays $11,000 but does not get the card.
Played IMPULSE, about 5 games with different combinations
of players, including Elliot.

Rcd. a letter from Warren Buell that he'll be in N.Y. on 2/21 and 2/22.

to Felicia. Told her that the latter showed promise.
Look at QUICKSAND (The Beach Word Game) (which is a complete remake of FIRE ISLAND LINGO (by Carol Wofford & Jordan Ramin - [address omitted for privacy.]
From a set of letters two are taken by a player. He
thinks of a word using those two letters and places dash (-) cards
to indicate all the other letters. Then on a piece of paper divided into
an 18 x 22 quadrille he writes three words that are connected with
his regula first word. They must have at least one crossword type
connection. The other players then have a time limit to guess
the word. If they do they can write in as many words as
they can think of connected with the original word and that they
can find room for on the quadrille, in a time limit. If the word
is not guessed the first player has this privilege. (Fairly rough
idea, Didn't get details of the scoring and when a new sheet of
paper was taken.)
Discussed what games Hallmark had of mine and others and what the outlook was.
According to Felicia's records the following were promised
for '72 which now means Stationery Show in '73 : - ANOTHER,
FITTING & PROPER, TROMINO GO, TOTALLY, THE MAKE-A-PUZZLE GAME, PITFALL, DUEL, CUBITS, and INDIAN CHESS.
The following probably won't ever be used but Hallmark was
told not to send them back yet : - DEDUCTION, COLOR CONFUSION,
WINDOW PAINS. PENTHOUSE was sent back. TOTTER, COUNTER INTELLIGENCE,
