Rcd. the 4th quarter royalty statement and check for $11.26 from
Tom Atwater - for ODD OR EVEN, TEMPO, INTERPLAY, TRANSFORMATION.
Rcd. the FOCUS contracts (2) and a note from Bob Johnson.
Called Felicia to tell her that I rcd. the FOCUS contracts. Bob had told
me to sign it and return it to <s>her</s> him without saying that Felicia
should sign it. And there was no provision for her signature on the
contract. She said to send it back but to call Bob's attention to the
fact that she should sign it too. After she hung up I looked at the
other Hallmark contracts and they were all the same. Some she had
signed and others not.
Told her that I hadn't heard from Bob Gellman. Felicia called Ruth
in Texas to tell her the "good news" about HOLIDAY.
Called Bill Eckhart in G.A.F. to ask about VIEWLINE and JUNGLE RACE.
Out for the rest of the day. Supposed to be in tomorrow.
Call from Bob Gellman. The contract with Athol was signed Friday.
He mentioned his call to Felicia and said that he had told her that he had told
me not to say anything until it was definite.
HOLIDAY will be shown at Toy Fair - just the final artwork of the box.
He wants the PATTON game from me but there is no big hurry. By the
beginning of May will be O.K. We both agreed that we don't want anything
nearly as complicated as an A.H. [Avalon Hill] game or a Simulations. He met
someone who was an A.H. "freak" but said that 1914 was completely
unplayable.
He wants to be at the Stationery Show but can't afford a whole booth.
He's thinking of contacting Jed Gaines about sharing one. He asked
me if I knew how MYWORD! did at X'Mas [Christmas]. Told him that I see Jed but I
don't ask him about business.
Bob asked me if I had any other games on the shelf, like HOLIDAY. Told
him I had all kinds of things, and we'll go over them after Toy Fair
and work on the '74 line. I asked about SCOTLAND YARD. That will be for '74.
Bob said that Urban Systems is now trying to get out of games. They have
been hit by Judgements over THE GODFATHER GAME and
THE HOWARD HUGHES GAME. Bob wondered if any of their games would
be worth taking over. I told him that SMOG was their best game.
But we both had doubts about sales potential for ecology games.
Took his new address: {Bob Gellman [address]
I'll drop by in the near future to look at the HOLIDAY box.
Called Fred Feucht. He apologized for not telling me about the Urban
Systems deal. He said that he heard from them last week
that there was a problem in their stock issue, but it was
definitely not dead. But in any case it makes coming out with new
things this year impossible. They still like the idea of the
