3 Wednesday - January 1973
3rd Day - 362 Days to Come
Rcd. [received] an X'Mas [Christmas] card from Gini. Outside of SCREWBALL very little
of her things have come thru. She is now contributing
editor for SIMULATIONS/GAMING/NEWS.
THE AMERICAN GAMES ASSOCIATION has merged into the
organization that puts out the periodical and her club is a
peaceful local games club again.
Bob Gellman called. R.G.I. is probably going to be taken over
by Athol Plastics - 200 5th Ave - Rm. 356 (924-7575). Unless
something goes wrong the signing should be this Friday.
They will be going with the sports games - big and little. Also
MOVIE MOGULS and MOVIE STARS. They will have a number
of prototypes of HOLIDAY ready for Toy Fair.
They have the art work ready for a game based on General
Patton. They'd like me to do the game. They'd like it authentic
but not nearly as complicated as an A.H. [Avalon Hill] game. Said I'd start
thinking of a PATTON game.
He'd like me to have the WHEELS game (see '72) ready in
two months.
Bob was thinking of only giving me 4% if I didn't have to
go thru Felicia, I told him that since he originally met me
at Brentano's. I told him that Felicia would get her share and
he agreed to thee 5%. On SCOTLAND YARD it will probably be
2 1/2% to me and 2 1/2% to the original inventor. Since they
don't have art work for this there may be a delay in putting
it out. (Looked at diary - Felicia said she only would take 15%.)
Bob said he'd call me next week and in the meantime not to tell
anyone.
(cont. from 1/4) [1/4]
Made tentative date with Claude for next Thursday.
At night thought of some ideas for the space trading game
I thought of a long time ago - SPACE WAYS. "Contracts" to move
a cargo from one planet to another are turned up. Each player
on his turn throws a die with 0-0-0-1-1-2 and the face
that shows tells how many contracts are turned. As a contract
is turned it is bid on, low bidder getting the contract. Player must
move to the first planet, turning over the contract card when
arriving. Get rid of card when reach the second planet. Collect
money on at the time the contract is let but there has to be
some way of penalizing players for waiting too long. Possible
idea is to have contracts in different colors used in order. Must
have used picked up a cargo before the next color is all used up.
Ship at first can carry 2 cargos. Can add to the fleet but it
costs money and extra landing - but it allows carrying more cargos.
Another possibility for determining number of contracts which
gives a smaller number: - 2 dice, one with 0-0-0-0-1-1 and the
other with 0-0-0-0-0-1.
