341ST DAY - 25 DAYS TO COME

At a bazaar BB arranged to meet Edith. Edith gave her
a bag of plastic pcs. [pieces] with a groove that were
unfinished buttons. I'll keep them for possible
game parts.

Wrote up the rules for FREE FORM. Made a new set
of the cards for THE BRAIN GAME, but did not put contact on
the back or trim the corners.
BB typed the FREE FORM rules.

Fred Feucht called. He has not been successful in getting to
see Marshall Lucas of M.B. However, Urban Systems contacted
him. When Bob Hallowell was trying to salvage Gametime he
presented the idea of p. & p. games to them. Now they
are interested. At first Fred suggested our flying to Bos-
ton to see Dick Rosen. But John Deegan, who now runs
the game part of Urban Systems will be in town this
week. I suggested getting his opinion before flying to
Boston - at considerable expense.

Fred contacted Urban Systems and set up a date with
Deegan for 10 A.M. this coming Friday. I asked which
games he had there:- WILDCAT, AIR BATTLE, SWORDSMAN, and TAKE-A-WORD. Told him I might bring another.

Called Phil Orbanes to tell him about Fred's call. I asked
what he thought about showing SUPER-TAC-TOE to Urban
systems and he said that since we hadn't heard from
Herb Hochstetter, I could go ahead.

When he seemed not too interested in the Urban Systems
deal I reminded him that I-Q was my 25% agent. He [illegible word crossed out]
apologized.

Phil rcd. [received] a letter from Joel Gaines about REALM. He is now
quite enthusiastic. The one thing he didn't care for was draw-
ing cards for a starting postition.

Phil would like to eliminate having the 16 "chips" and
engraving the numbers on the board. He suggested each
player choosing 3 starting spaces alternately. I was
afraid that this would become stereotyped - especially
with the same two players. I suggested players choosing
the spaces but prohibiting two spaces in the same
row or column. Phil liked that idea.

When talking with Fred Feucht, we spoke a little about Bob Hallowell. I asked about getting MANHATTAN MADNESS back
from Bob. Fred said he was pretty sure he had it, Fred
that is.

Arthur called. He was in touch with Ned Strongin. He had a check from Hasbro on [illegible word crossed out] BALANCE OF POWER. It is for about half of what originally was promised. Hasbro goes ahead with the
